However, I think without Florida in 2000, there would be no Minnesota 2008.

Al Franken learned a lot from that 2000 experience.

I hope others take heed as well.

4. I know
and he pissed me off for doing that.

However, that was then and this is now.

He appears to be applying lessons learned for that which he ridiculed.

12. I am hoping this experience turns him into a voting rights zealot!
He would be ideal to take this on with National legislation.

5. Coleman's camp aside, the Repubs in MN have been refreshingly non-partisan -
The ones on the canvassing boards and the ones on the SC (although I found their mixed opinion yesterday somewhat problematic).

It is hard to believe in this day and age that a board made up of Democrats and Republicans, from Pawlenty's friends to Ventura appointees, could decide unanimously to do what's right and give Franken his absentee ballots and count the missing ones.

Thank goodness we don't have any Kitty Harrises in state to gum up the works. (ok we do have one, but we sent her off to the House for another two years... sigh)

9. I certainly hope so!
This recount has been amazing and I'm so impressed Al has stuck with it. Not allowing them to give up.

It has occurred to me that maybe all the Repubs have been doing all along is automatically rejecting provisional ballots. And they've been relying on us not challenging them on it.

Hopefully, not any more. :grr:

10. Therein lies the essential paradox of America
In Minnesota, they count all the votes. However, it's 30 degrees below zero.

In Florida, it's 70 degrees -- but, well, you know.

Why isn't it possible to have both? :(

11. This shouldn't happen anywhere
We should have a logical election system that accounts for voting error. I have no doubt the Republicans are going to feel just as burned after this as Democrats felt after Florida.
