I still have nightmares.
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 08:49 PM by sicksicksick_N_tired
The last thing I needed to hear when I turned on the news, this evening, was the pRESIDENT saying something along the lines of "G.W. started this wall and G.W. will finish it", referring to his portrait on the WH walls.

It made me shudder :scared: after the last seven years.

It caused me to think, once again, "they will do anything to retain power."

THAT is how bad the last seven years has been and the full impact of the aftermath is yet to come. The full impact of the abuses of this administration is YET TO COME,...we know that. This administration has essentially brought the United States of America to its knees, socially and globally and economically. We, as a nation, are at our weakest point in a century.

To date, none of those in the G.W. administration have expressed concern or regret. To the contrary, TO THIS DAY, the neocons have proven their willingness to advantage themselves of ANY situation, especially vulnerable ones,...and I am still extremely worried about the their willingness to perpetuate further damage in order to retain/expand their power.

On the other hand, when I grab onto the hope of an Obama administration managing to squelch the world's worst jackals (something that 'feels' almost as far away as attempting to stop an aggressive war, unfortunately), I turn to the possibility of,...justice,...strict "rule of law" justice, which I believe could heal the majority of wounds to both humanity and democracy.

Then, I wonder: when the hell did the basic justice of enforcing the rule of law seem so far away? Bush and Cheney practically admitted approving violation of laws pertaining to war and human rights and torture. They confessed on public fucking television!!!! The whole nation KNOWS they approved crimes and the whole nation is closing its eyes,...to crimes against humanity!!!!

HOW FUCKED UP can this nation focusing upon petty rather than mass crimes, war crimes, crimes against humanity; focusing upon a President-to-be reaching out to a decisive figure rather than those who are completely responsible for such divisive and deceitful acts leading to the death of hundreds of thousands and the economic oppression of tens of millions and the residual effect of billions of peoples?

I still have nightmares. But, I have powerful dreams, too.

Maybe, I still have nightmares because,...this nation IS a nightmare. Maybe.

1. What I am asking is, why are the crimes of this administration being forgotten so quickly?
I will NEVER FORGET. I know for a fact the Iraqis won't ever forget. I am pretty damned sure the world won't forget and that this IS OUR LAST OPPORTUNITY to PROVE ourselves deserving of respect as a democracy.
