A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."

"That team totally pwned us."

8. No, see there are actually three levels of being 'owned'.

Owned level 1, otherwise spelled 'owned', is the lightest and means that you've been handed your own ass on a platter and have been given utensils with which to dine on it.

Owned level 2, otherwise spelled 'pwned', is moderate and means that you've been handed your own ass on a platter and have had the first few mouthfuls shoved down your throat.

Owned level 3, otherwise spelled 'qwned', is the highest level and means that you've had your back bent a full 180 degrees in a direction it was never meant to be bent, had your head stuffed up your ass, and been given a soda straw to breathe through while groups of rabid wolverines take turns chewing on your tallywhacker.

For the record, Inhofe was 'qwned'. 'Pwned' just isn't a strong enough word.
