Poll question: Just a simple poll

There are many contenders for this award, but I am truly curious as to the historical rationale.

And please--we all know the current administration is the real worst of all time, but I want to know, between only Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, which is the greater evil between these two?

My own reasoning puts Reagan as the greater evil, but I based that mainly on how some conservatives react when I mention Reagan's name, as though he were their greatest idol. I contend that Nixon had some good ideas, while Reagan had none.

But that's just me, and I could be missing the point entirely. And yes, it's a question of degrees. And yes, by our standards, they were both wicked. I know all that, but if we were to accumulate their deeds one at a time on top of each other, which pile would be higher?

I feel that both presidents more than qualify.

Nixon knew that what he was doing was dark-spirited and under-handed and illegal and immoral, and he did it anyway.

Reagan's men knew the same thing, even if the boss' dementia may have excused his complete awareness of events. Although if I can pick up a copy of the New York TIMES and read about death squads in Central America, it seems to me that the President of the United States likely knows about them as well.

For me, Reagan's two terms and the St. Ronnie characterization of the man by conservatives and the complicit media make him the more intolerable figure. He was never held publicly accountable for his evil work. Nixon was driven from office, and properly so. Both almost entirely escaped criminal penalty.

4. I had to say Reagan but evil is not the right word.

He was clueless as to what was going on and he was an actor playing a role.
But his administration started the economic mess we now have and that is an evil thing.

After assassination attempt on Reagan, it was said that Bush I became

president ....

Reagan's election was stolen with "October Surprise" with Bush and Gates

prominent players. Ollie north commanded the Jimmy Carter desert "rescues"

which ended up with helicopters going down because they didn't have the

equipment necessary to keep sand out of the engines!!! Having done all that,

what else might have been going on? Iran Contra, of course, but truth is

we don't know it all.

I'm not saying that Reagan was an innocent. . . I think he supported assassination

of JFK and well knew about the deal to hold hostages until he was sworn in.

This administration/Bush may have also played a role in killing of John Lennon.

I'd look back to Nixon/Humphrey and say so. Immediately after the coup on JFK,

the large computers used by media to report election results began coming in.

Plus, there were a number of ways to fix the counters on the voting machines in

use at the time. I think Nixon armed right-wing religiously fanatical Israelis

which finally buried Israel's peace movement. Israel & America's weapons

manfacturing is so closely intertwined you can barely distinguish one from the

other. Israel was our foothold in ME to create r-w mischief.

And we certainly don't know all Nixon did -- wiretapped "enemies" widely.

Certainly, many deaths cleared the way for his presidency.


IMO, both administrations were as evil as they could get away with at the time...

paving the way for Bush II.
