and of course that encompasses quite a bit. His science and energy picks are 180 degrees from bushco's appointments and policies. Labor and unions: Obama supports unions and making it easier to organize, including card check. His Secretary of Labor is someone who strongly supports workers and unions.

I also like the Solis pick, although I don't think he is setting her--or labor--up to have a powerful role. Otherwise, she would have been named as part of the economic team.

he would have named Solis as Sec'y. of Labor when he named the economic team. He would have given her and labor a more prominent economic position in his administration and would have emphasized the role of labor in reforming and restoring the US economy.

Instead, he named primarily a bunch of supply-side, "free market" ideologues to run the economy for him and left Labor until much later.

Obama himself is a self-proclaimed "free market" champion.

"Free market" doesn't mean zero controls, it means very limited controls. Geithner, Summers, et al are most assuredly in the monetarist (supply-side) camp. You don't get to be in charge of the New York Fed or the Federal Open Market Committee unless you are a true believer and a true supporter of the Fed's supply-side monetary policies.

As for the Obama, I'm just going by his own words. He has claimed repeatedly to be a believer in the "free market."

No longer are we to believe this is a "conservative" or center-right country. The election debunkned both the "conservative philosophy" and those who use it to destroy this country.

President Obama has pushed the national dialogue toward social not military, the middle class over the wealthy and that change can and will happen. For some he's brought hope...other he's brought salvation (deliverance from the dark side of repunicans).
