It will take this problem off Obama's "plate" while allowing him to save face" and name someone more acceptable. How about Gene Robinson?

1. Keep him there, just add representatives of all religions to it
Lessen his importance by diluting his message.

That way Obama can save face, and add voices that represent a broader spectrum of beliefs.

3. The asshole bigot Warren does not have the guts to do what is right.

IMO, don't anyone hold his/her breath waiting for Warren to take a hike.

4. It's only getting ugly on DU
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 05:46 PM by nxylas
Out in the real world, people aren't rioting in the streets over Rick Warren. If you really believe that Gene Robinson would be "more acceptable" than the bestselling author of The Purpose-Driven Life, you've been living in the DU bubble too long.

14. I'm with you on that!
I sort of live in a bubble myself. I've been TV-free for quite some time, and get almost all of my input from the internet. But I get the same impression, and it's quite distinct. January Twenty FIRST of next year, can't come soon enough for me!

7. Warren is only completely defined by his stance on homosexuality here
Everywhere else, he's the guy that wrote a book that people used to take charge of their lives.

15. Obama needs to remove it. Warren pig will not remove himself.
Obama gave him free publicity by giving him a position of honor before the entire nation.

20. He won't withdraw. Obama won't withdraw him. Are any protests planned?
I'm surprised I haven't read about any planned protests or demonstrations on DU. I think that would be the most constructive thing you can do to make your feelings clear.
