1. The crappier the movie, the more you have to push it!

13. It's breaking sales records all over the world
I don't care for musicals, nor do I care for how these classic ABBA songs have been ruined by piss-poor singers.

But the musical and the movie have been huge hits, which is why so much money is being put into plugging the DVD: They know it's going to sell like crazy here, as it already has in other countries.

2. The DVD came out last week and it's Christmas
I'm sure the commercials will go away soon. The Mama Mia commercial is better than seeing that damn Michael Phelps/Rosetta Stone commercial again.

4. I think it is because they lump stuff together for greater saturation: Meryl Streep is also
in a new movie called Doubt, with Philip Seymour Hoffman. And one of the TV channels was running about of documentary stuff about Hitler and then advertising for the new Tom Cruise movie. Another channel was running Cruise's Mission Impossible movies ove rthe last ten days, too.

6. The movie was a piece of crap.
Putting "name" actors, instead of singers, in the movie was a huge mistake.

One of the biggest wastes of time I've spent. When Meryl Streep tried to sing the show stopper, "The Winner Takes It All," my ears hurt - she was that bad.

I love ABBA music; hated the movie.

7. We watched it tonight...
...in fact, it's over and it's still in the DVD player.

That "Honey, honey" song is looping over and over in the background.

I just might go completely insane...

...maybe I should walk into the other room and turn it off.

9. It's ABBA. Of course it's crap!
They were the lamest, most superficial, most WEAK band ever to sing in English. They had no driving melodies, their lyrics wouldn't have made it on the interior of a Hallmark greeting card, and their voices were bland, bland, bland.

This movie is the first remake of "Triumph of the Will" for the 21st Century. More evil than that, actually. Nobody bought the soundtrack for "Triumph" that I know of.

10. You are comparing a love story with Triumph of the Will?
in the same category of some American Jews comparing Maddoff to Kristalnacht.

You and I may disagree on whether ABBA is a good band or not, but this is hyperbole....

12. FUCK YOU -- ABBA RULES!
ABBA's music is some of the best ever made (the Mamma Mia! movie songs, of course, sound lame because they're sung by mere actors). ABBA made so many advances in recording techniques, PIONEERED MUSIC VIDEOS AS A PROMOTIONAL TOOL, and there's even a new book going into detail about how incredibly ingenious their songs are:

http://www.abbaletthemusicspeak.com/

Saying Frida and Agnetha's voices were bland is like saying John McCain is a liberal. They had more talent in their pinkie fingers than you'll ever be able to develop in seventeen lifetimes.

Dig the wax out of your ears before you spout bullshit. You probably don't even know any ABBA songs except the ones you heard on the radio...meaning, you have no fucking clue about ABBA at all.

BTW, since gays are really up in arms lately, it really isn't a good idea trashing a band that is so beloved in the gay community. Or didn't you know that about ABBA, either?

15. You remind me of the Britney Zombies.
Oh, when your a Britney Zombie
There's only one thing to be done
You listen to her music night and day,
Every word she says you decide to obey

So you follow her example and have children
From a rapid succession of dead beat men
And you schedule labor to be induced
On the same day as her's (what an ego boost!)
And you watch her birth on pay-per-view
As you push and you push till your face turns blue

Finally the miracle of birth occurs...
The TV gives off some weird static blurs,
Britney's baby emerges from the TV set,
Like the girl from The Ring (Only less brunette)
And she morphs with yours to form a massive evil one...

(Yes, You're A)
Britney Zombie,
Dumb as a sow,
Britney Zombie...
She's your mother now!

Just pushing up the flowers
Completely in her powers
And your eyes are looking dead
'Cause she barbecued your head
You've devoted all your life
Just to Satan's trophy wife...

Yes, now you're a Britney Zombie
Isn't she lucky?
You're a zombie...
Just a slave for her!

19. It's a Fun Bit of Fluff right now
It's just a fun musical when everything else in the news is either:

1) Scary
2) Frightening
3) Depressing

The same way people in the 30s used to love screwball comedies and musicals.

I thought Meryl Streep was adorable in the movie and I loved Christine Baranski, and ABBA ROCKS. It was a fun movie. Some of you need to remove the stick you have you know where. Go piss in someone else's Cheerios.

I hated the movie. You liked it. Why the screw-you and the stick-up-the-ass comments?

Is there some agenda I don't see?
