Nothing brings joy to the right and the pragmatic centrists more than the lamentations of liberals..
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 01:15 AM by Fumesucker
The reaction from the gay community and some of the left to Warren was roughly as predictable as the fact that if you drop an anvil on your foot it will hurt. Warren is a homophobe (for lack of a better word, I don’t think he is afraid of gays), a sexist, a would-be theocrat and is at least somewhat anti-science.

Glenn Greenwald at Salon.com has pointed out many times that if a politician wishes to be taken as "Serious" by the pundits and the DC "Village" he must dis teh left. Glenn supports everything he says with documented facts and almost always impeccable logic.

This is just Obama establishing himself as "Serious" to the pundits and the DC Village by dissing teh gay, teh DFHs and teh "far left". Nothing brings joy to the heart of the right and the pragmatic centrists more than the lamentations of liberals and Obama has caused considerable lamentation by libs.

Now that Obama has ritually dissed teh left, he now is less likely to be thought of as a "Kookinich" by the pundits and the Village, it gives him more maneuvering room and strengthens his cred.

Never mind that on issue after issue teh left has proven correct while the right and the pragmatic centrists have proven to be utterly and disastrously wrong, what matters in the Village is that you be Serious and no one who does not dis teh left is thought to be Serious.

Edited for spelng..

4. Fast typists often misspell "the" as "teh", the ones who care about language..
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 08:26 AM by Fumesucker
And correctness proofread and fix it, those who don't care either don't notice or don't care enough to go back and fix it.

It is an indication of sloppy thinking and carelessness with language.

You've never had to go back and fix "teh" to the "the", I know I have?

Edited to fix punctuation, I care about my posts.

7. You counted?
I'm a serial obsessive, which basically means I obsess but change the focus of my obsession from time to time.

Do you have any remarks on the substance of my post?

3. Agreed. But how do we say "HELL NO" without giving them any satisfaction?
Simply ignoring the issue (unlike ignoring homophobic/racist/sexist posters on DU), and they get what they want by default.

5. We keep being told that Obama is "playing a chess game"..
If we assume that is true then we also are assuming that Obama has correctly predicted the responses to his actions.

But then the very same people say that Obama was "surprised" by the reaction to Warren by some of us on the left, if this is so then they are saying Obama is a lousy chess player.

I don't see how Obama could possibly have been surprised by the reaction to Warren.
