What if Warren publicly recants his bigotry before the inauguration?
Although I'm adamantly opposed to Warren giving the invocation at the moment, if he were to publicly recant his bigotry against gays *and* women before the inaugural I would accept his presence then and I think that Warren might actually become a positive force for change.

I don't think Warren is likely to do that since it will destroy much of his prestige and power in the religious community but I think it is something we should discuss.

Since I'm not gay I really don't have much idea how my gay fellow citizens would feel about this idea, I would appreciate some input.

I'm working off McCamy Taylor's post about the lion laying down with the lamb, that's what triggered my thinking processes here.

1. after YEARS of this bullshit we're to believe him NOW?
Anyone in their right mind would know it's just done for the spotlight at the inauguration.

2. I think it's as unlikely as Bush recanting his position on the war, or Cheney on torture.

7. Fat chance.
He's locked into that authoritarian fundy mindset. There is no turning back. Sad.

8. He should also repent of advocating that humans and dinosaurs co-existed.
Whoops, looks like that little boo-boo got deleted off the Saddleback website now. Trust me, it was there and it was hilarious.

10. Hey, I'm not looking for miracles here..
I don't really care that much about his anti-evolutionism, but his bigotry upsets me considerably.

11. Well, one might be emerging shortly. Did you see Hardball this evening?
If not, you'll hear about it.
