John and Elizabeth Edwards to Hold Press Conference at 12:00 Tomorrow
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 09:54 PM by Cheney Killed Bambi
I know John Edwards cancelled a campaign event to be with Elizabeth in NC while she underwent medical tests earlier this week. I sure hope she's ok.

UPDATE: Daily Kos speculates on how serious this might be:

5. I'm very worried.
He cancelled a planned event to be by her side at this medical appointment today, and now he's planning a press conference tomorrow with her?

:scared:

Not to be negative, but why make a press conference if everything is OK?

10. I'm hoping that Mrs. Edwards is well,
but this press conference just seems as though she isn't and he will no longer be a candidate because she isn't well.

I hope that I'm wrong. I'm going to light a candle with hope that Elizabeth is going to be just fine.

23. I'm a 9 year (and counting) survivor of breast cancer...
I was treated at Duke, which is one of the best in the country for cancer. Does anyone know where she had her tests? It sounds like she had her testing here in NC. I know she was treated originally somewhere else, but Duke is close to home for them and would be a good place for her checkups. I'm sending prayers and good vibes their way, and hoping that this is NOT bad news...

28. small inkling of hope from this sentence
"Edwards had cut short a trip to Iowa Tuesday night to be with his wife Wednesday but still attended a barbecue fundraiser later in the evening in their hometown of Chapel Hill, N.C."

I read "later in the evening" to mean Wednesday evening.

John would not have left Elizabeth alone Wednesday night if the medical test result were grim.

From that I have hope.

37. good point
I certainly hope that if the news isn't a clean bill of health, it only means something manageable--like another round of treatment with high hopes of full recovery.

She is such a graceful, lovely person. And that family has already been through too much.

 and prayers for them.

There you have a striking difference between the kind of leadership which rises to the top in the two parties.

mostly. it's the cleanest thread I have ever read over there, and most of them on it give me hope for the actual goodness of people. Of course, they have their jerks (as do we) but they get slammed down on a topic like this.

count me in the 'this is not good' camp. now if I can just figure out how Hillary is behind this...

44. Good to see that.
I keep thinking about a line in M*A*S*H by Hawkeye, when someone (probably Frank Burns) was griping about him treating a North Vietnamese soldier who had been wounded and brought in to the OR:

"The uniforms come off when they come in here."

Sometimes politics and parties don't matter.

45. This makes me nervous
I truly hope Elizabeth's health is okay and that if there is something wrong they will get through this. Their family has already been through so much.

I also hope this doesn't mean that Edwards is dropping out, as he was one of my favorites (although I like Obama a lot too and hadn't decided between the two of them). Obviously if his wife has any serious health issues that should come first.
