Franken Maintains 48-Vote Lead
Nate Silver reports:

The Star Tribune reports that Al Franken holds a 48-vote lead over Norm Coleman, with thousands of withdrawn challenges having been added back in to the respective candidates’ totals.

3. What a joke...
It's a good thing more people are not paying attention to the progress up there.. I think you would have a REALLY hard time explaining to someone how a BIG CIRCLE in an oval for one candidate is somehow decided on for another candidate.. I mean its pretty damn emabarassing.. its not even a hanging chad.. lol

7. Uh...what would you be saying if Coleman had the lead?
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 07:50 PM by MineralMan
I mean, I just am wondering. I've been watching the recount pretty religiously. It's being done fairly. It's just that Franken is ahead now. Wasn't that long ago that Coleman was ahead...you may remember.

If you haven't been watching the actual process, but are relying on news reports on a few ballots, then you aren't getting the whole picture.

Interesting screen name, too. Belial. Fascinating fictional character...Belial.

Yes, interesting choice of screen name, indeed...

21. Yes fictional he is though I do not think the proselytizers who wrote
the bible while plagiarizing far older fictions meant him to be; But one thing is for sure, worthless and shifty he is meant to be.

16. You know, I'm really sick of comments like this.
Our DEMOCRATIC Secretary of State has been overseeing this whole process, making sure it is fair and OPEN. Every single precinct had volunteers from both campaigns present to monitor the recount. That's where all these challenges originated from. The SOS and judges/justices appointed by our REPUBLICAN governor have gone over the challenged ballots one by one, in public, under the scrutiny of both campaigns and the media.

I am grateful to live here in a state with excellent election laws and competent people who are figuring out just which candidate had the most people vote, or attempt to vote for them.

Want to educate yourself? Go to http://www.startribune.com and take the ballot challenge. See what some of these ballots look like. Lots of silly challenges by both campaigns, but some real head scratchers too.

But I would love to see it at 27 votes, only so Nate could have been exactly right. :)

22. He also needs some money right now, I happen to know this because they called me tonight
Edited on Tue Dec-23-08 09:47 PM by kenny blankenship
I know lots of people are tapped out with the holiday season and the gift giving and the Great Depression and the Ponzi schemes, and I know some people (like me) are really angry right now, but Al is still out there fighting the good fight and he could really use your money. And it's for one of the worthiest, truly one of the best, of causes: paying Al's lawyers.

Won't you dig into the sofa cushions and find some spare change for Al? Even a little can do so much. Of course a lot is a lot better, but anything is good. Think of the good Al can do in the Senate and open your hearts: Think of workers earning paychecks for their families again and open your hearts. Think of homeowners avoiding foreclosure and open your hearts. Think of peace on Earth and Johnny come marching home again and open your hearts. Think of Bill O'Reilly's head exploding like a fountain of rotten roadkill and open your hearts!

Thank you on behalf of everyone who has Al Franken to win in Minnesota.
