Rep. Conyers: Tell Obama - Single-Payer Health Care Is The Answer

President-elect Barack Obama has set up a website to gather ideas from ordinary citizens on the most important issues facing our country.

Obama wants to hear from you about health care. Now is our chance to show the president-elect the tremendous support nationwide for single payer health care.

Show your support for single payer health care

Single payer universal health care is the only solution that will take profit out of health care. We need health care reform that will:

* Create a publicly-financed, privately-delivered universal health care program covering all Americans;

* Cover all medically-necessary services without charging co-pays or deductibles;

* Eliminate corporate greed from our health care delivery system.

Tell Obama that single payer health care is the answer.

Thank you for your continued support for a better democracy.

Your Friend,

John Conyers, Jr.

Get on that link! Send a note.

Everyone EVERYONE has an insurance horror story, or knows someone who does. Do you stay in a terrible, dead end job for the insurance bennies? Do you know someone trapped in an bad, even abusive marriage because they have a "preexisting condition"?

Did your start-up fail because you couldn't handle the insurance requirements? Can your doctor only spend 15 minutes with you at a time because the insurance pays him so little that he has to make it up in volume, and hire three people to satisfy the insurance company's paperwork requirements?

Have you had to postpone an operation waiting for a "pre-authorization" for something that no one else is calling an "experimental treatment"?

The iron is hot, kids...

12. Yeah, and? I know that. We were supposed to tell him what WE think.
And that is what I think needs to happen. This country needs to get over socialism for the rich is good and socialism for the masses is bad.
Nationalize health care like the rest of the western civilization and get the insurance companies out of the health decision making process, especially when they override trained medical personal and people die for the betterment of the next bottom line and obscene bonus for upper management.

15. Sadly that is what he said.
Oh why do we have someone so willing to reach out to all the wrong people!!

Oh, I forgot, he no longer needs to reach out to us - we are only the fools who voted him in.

19. I wonder if he'll have any of the uninsured at the table?
Maybe hearing from people who are dying because they couldn't get preventative care or have gone bankrupt because of medical bills would wake him up.

4. See what I learned today when I called my Congressman...

This was my experience when I called about supporting single payer.

16. Also, tell Senator Edward Kennedy and new Secretary of Health and
Human Resources, Tom Daschle. Those two have Obama's ear on health care and their solutions are far from single payer. Congressman Conyers and "we the people" must convince them so that they can convince Obama.

20. Hell yes!
This is the only rational and moral solution available. Anything else is spin and propaganda by the insurance and big pharma industries to maintain (and continue to increase) profts.
