Merry Christmas from Rick Warren! You're all hateful, evil, and not even Christian!

Barack Obama's good buddy Rick Warren recorded a video yesterday, talking about the outcry over his being chosen to given the invocation at Obama's swearing in. And it's a doozie. Warren's big mouth, and apparent ego, is pretty much guaranteeing that this controversy will continue all the way up until the inauguration and beyond.

Warren accuses gays of "hate speech," of launching "hateful attacks" against him, and he then says that gay and lesbian Americans have "Christ-ophobia," a clear effort to mock the term "homophobia." He goes on to explain that gays are "afraid of any Christian," suggesting that gay and lesbian Americans - gay and lesbian Obama voters - are not Christians. He then goes on to call gays criticizing him "evil." All this from a man who compared gay marriage to incest and pedophilia, and who explicitly bans "unrepentant gays" from his church membership.

(He also adds that bloggers are "rude" and "need to get a life." I don't really care about that part, it's just more evidence that we're getting under Warren's skin, and that he's not quite ready for prime time.)

the larger issue -- of making sure Obama doesn't "Clinton" the progressives, both in NOT pursuing things he DID promise (like rolling back the tax cut on the rich, which could be easily spent on eco-industrialization if economic stimulus is needed) and in SUPPORTING things, like the contemporary incarnation(s) of Star Wars that he DID say during the campaign. Will Obama hold to all the RW things he promised, plus a little Xtra (Warren not only at table of debate but giving invocation), while waffling on the progressive side? Progressives need to mobilize in some kind of umbrella movement to oppose this.

It is also important to support the progressive things that Obama DOES pursue from Repuke obstructionism

And it is clear how his alleged charitable works are tied to "conversion". it is also clear how he is going to "brainwash" through mass communication and it is really interesting how he will be "launching" his new program at the same time as the Inaugural when he gets his most exposure.He is NEVER GOING TO GIVE UP. He is still pushing the Yes on 8 talking point about the religious definition of the word "marriage"--and that voting for Yes was preserving the definition of the word "marriage". That fighting to preserve human rights is an attack on language.

This is very dangerous because it forces those who wish to see equal human rights preserved under the equal protection clause into an argument we shouldn't have to be in. The religions created the argument, forced everyone else to have it amongst themselves, and then won it. They won it by pouring tons of cash into the support of their argument, raised by "reasonable" little chats like this one in Warren's videos.

edit: I'm watching the video referenced in the OP. He is being a weasel there, too. Warren is not *directly* calling bloggers and gays evil. He is using the cowardly "people have written me to say this" and answering the "letters" in this video. It is propaganda at its finest.
