1. What, no Blago newz? Are they suddenly gonna forget all about it?
Maybe because there's no there there?

This story was pretty horrific, but no one died, I think they've turned the water off, but now milk it for all it's worth. It's the m$m way.

12. Wow, way to twist what I wrote. I saw the water was at a trickle
on a live feed, and what do you know, they've moved on.

Sorry you're sorry no one died. I'm not. I'm very glad. As I wrote, it was horrific and I wouldn't have wanted to change places with any of those unfortunate people who got swallowed up in that mess.

17. Sorry.
i saw 'but' no one died. I frequently see 'but' being used in a confusing way.

Have seen/am watching several live feeds; some places water still rushing, some trickling I guess. I'm NOT going out to look!

With Bob Franken frothing at the mouth insisting we should prosecute Obama. What an asshole that guy is.

2. Is Contessa Getting All Giddy???
She just loves a good disaster or car chase. She gives vacuous a shallow name.

Cheers...

7. And there you are, watching it
apparently the story puts butts in seats, as it were, so they're running with it.

Don't like the news the MSM is piping out? Don't watch it. When people stop watching it, they'll change the story. It's really a pretty simple formula.

For your information, I did turn the channel. But, if I didn't, it's none of your business. Why are you even reading about it?? Turn off this post.

25. I'm not trying to be snarky
just pointing out that in most cases, the MSM is delivering the news that keeps people tuned in. Its news because people want it to be news...

8. Actually, I think it's great they are covering it
They are making a lot over the need to rebuild infrastructure, which should be the linchpin to any economic recovery plan.

13. Even if it wasn't a slow news day, that would have made the TV news.
Broadcast news is dependent on compelling video. When you have Americans being rescued by helicopter from their flooded cars, it will be on the American news. (If this happened in another country, though, it might've been a different story.)

15. But for how many hours or how many days should it be reported...
It's a news story but not a continuous one, in my opinion.

16. For broadcast journalism, it's a continuous story as long as they keep getting good footage.
I imagine this'll be gone by tonight, after the network nightly news. Until then, it'll be all Bethesda, all the time.

20. I found the rescues very interesting.....and I appreciated the coverage
on MSNBC....finally had TV worth viewing....I am happy nobody died and I can imagine how awful it was trapped in those cars waiting to be rescued.

The rescuers were great!

21. The story was the people trapped in their cars, not the break itself
The rescues are what made it news. It would have stayed a local story except for that. And the fact that some of the cable news networks have workers that live in the area. I doubt that many of them live off of River Road though.

28. They probably didn't have any water
That would make it a health hazard. I would imagine that is why they closed the schools. It will be interesting to see what they say on the news tonight.

26. Actually, maybe not even that.
It seems the (66") main that broke is relatively new ...... 1964. They're supposed to last a hundred years or so. I am no expert, but I'd bet this is due to the rapid and huge temperature fluctuations we've had in this area.
