Nothing against Anna...

Just tripping on the fact, that on some things, we'll get way more people angrily keyboarding for days on end, than will actually go out and protest something important.

Like the war.

2. Tho' we're a political board, we're all part of the general "American culture". It happens.
Obviously.

5. I Agree, But...
I cannot believe the number of people that I meet, that say that nobody's gonna care until they re-instate the draft. I DO NOT want the draft re-instated, but crap man... the best way to insure that, is to get out there and get active now. Docility will not make that possibility go away.

Pre-empt the draft. Get your asses out there NOW!!!

3. music discussions never fail
along with American Idol and other reality TV, sports controversies, and of course, the DLC

and on that note: I'm sorry people, but you have to admit Laura Branigan made some damn good music!

4. I'll tell you why I think that is
Because on some things we disagree - and that generates debate and a lot of back and forth typing.

we agree on the war issue, nothing really to debate on it. bush sucks, the war sucks, we need to get out (when is open to debate, as well as how congress handles it).

As we are a reflection of our culture it is natural to also discuss things which are swirling about in the ether and what people are talking about at work, on the news, etc. And entertainment is a big part of that.

It is something we can all relate to because it involves someone we 'know'. It's like why did some cry when lucille ball died, but not John in the war? They grew up seeing her, she made them laugh, gave them memories - even if they never met her they knew her and she had an impact in some fashion on their lives. They only know John from a newspaper clipping.

My mom was a lot like Lucy so that came to mind :)
