5. Don't remember exactly where I read or saw this in the last couple of weeks
but I remember hearing/reading that the Islamist militias hated the pirates and were trying to stop them on their own.

2. Where were they when the European and Japanese were killing the fishing industry by over harvesting?
Why do you think there are all those men with boats looking for a living?

9. Obviously...
...they were eating dinner.

However, the time to debate that is either prior to the problem (slightly late) or after the world has solved this pirate problem.

Moreover, lack of fishing is only a small part of the economic problem in that part of the world. There are too many factors to start demanding reparations from Japan.

Of course, according to the Flying Spaghetti Monster - only pirates can save us from Global Warming.

6. How big of a navy is heading there?
Does not seem that the current navies who are patrolling are making a big dent in the problem. Too much open sea I guess. Are they sending a big enough force to make a difference?

And are we sure those aren't photo-shopped pictures of little sampans or something.

10. The Chinese have had some of their shit hijacked and are pissed off no end.
They are sending their Navy...not sure how many ships are actually going to the area but it should be around 5 or 6 big ones and 24 smaller guys for fuel/food/ammo/water.....

15. If you hijack Chinese trade ships nowadays, the regime in Beijing will only tolerate so much.
This isn't like the 1980s and before where they had very little in the way of power projection. China has been trying to develop a blue-water navy for a while now, not the shallow-water fare they've been fielding since the 1950s.

Or is this just bringing another layer of force into the eternal game - the new generational GWOT?
