84. Bob Somerby has ALWAYS hated Keith.

Always called him "worse than useless" and so on, and held himself high above the madding crowd because of it. In his eyes, it seems, Keith is supposed to "push the liberal cause" (when Keith has said he's not trying to push a cause) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and isn't supposed to have ANY other interests in the world. You know, like baseball. His show should be all about SERIOUS news, no fluff, and of course, Keith makes WAY too much money for all that folderol and frivolity. His job is a SERIOUS responsibility...how DARE he have any fun fooling around on the radio with Dan Patrick for an hour a day! The SLACKER!!! Harrumph!

When I read stuff like that, I can conclude only one thing:

I think there's little doubt that Olbermann is generally liberal, his protestations to the contrary in Salon (reprinted in the Pittsburgh Post) notwithstanding. But I think he's fair, and his criticism of bush and this administration has been wholly justified. Should a democratic administration behave similarly, I think Olbermann would call them to account as well. Of course, I don't think a democratic administration would behave in this way.
