Gonna be a strange christmas for us this year
We were planning to not exchange gifts this year and give the money we save to various animal rescue charities.

But that's the good part. Last Saturday I came down with some kind of food poisoning intestinal virus thingy. I've spent the better part of the past three days either sitting on the toilet or kneeling over it. I couldn't keep down solid food until last night and right now I'm so weak I can barely sit up. I don't know what this stuff is but it can really kick your ass.

To make matters worse just as I was starting to get over the worst of it my wife comes down with it Monday morning. We were planning Christmas eve for about 12 people but that ain't gonna happen now.

But thank god for our kids. They took our dogs so we didn't have to worry about them and they have come by every day to take care of the horses. They brought us gallons of electrolyte and salt replacement drinks, steamed white rice and other bland food.

We wanted to spend a quiet Christmas day with no kids grandkids or great grandkids. Looks like we'll have the chance since we don't want any kids exposed to whatever this crap is.

We'll recover eventually but I'm afraid it won't happen until after Christmas.

Meanwhile we at least have a roof over our heads. And heat in the house. And cats sleeping on every chair.

Hope you all have a less complicated holiday than us this year.

1. So sorry you all are ill
Take it easy and enjoy the peace... once you can be more than two feet away from the toilet.

2. I'm glad you're feeling better!
Sounds like you've had a rough few days. I'm sorry your wife has to go through it now. I hope you're both well and strong by the new year!

I was worried last night because I had a 99.9 degree fever. Normally, that's no big deal but because I'm undergoing chemotherapy, I'm supposed to call the doctor if I have a fever of 100.5 and I've been told I could end up in the hospital for an antibiotic IV. I was afraid I was going to spend Christmas in the hospital but it dropped to 99.7 before I went to sleep and it's under 98 this morning. Whew! :hi:

4. Sounds like a norovirus
The kind of thing what is prevalent on cruise ships.

Here's hoping you make a speedy recovery!

6. Sounds about like us.
We're both down with colds/virus/whatever.
The bad weather in the northeast wiped out our planned road trip to our daughter's near Boston.
The one bright spot...we didn't have to do any Christmas shopping for each other. There's nothing we really need or want.
So we adopted an Angel Tree kid.
When I saw his request for books I said "That's our boy."
Merry Christmas, anyway.
:-)

Sorry, I've been there and I wouldn't wish it on Rick Warren.
