Why not RAISE A SHOE to Rick Warren at the inauguration as a protest to his views?
It would make for a very symbolic gesture of disapproval to a man whose preaching of intolerance is insulting to so many of us who worked hard to bring change to this country. It appears as if President Obama is not going to disinvite Warren, so why not make a gesture that the world can see-LIFT A SHOE IN PROTEST!

I've heard others say turn your back, but I believe lifting the shoe will be a more visual statement.

What do others think.

(Sorry if this has been suggested previously, I've been busy with my kids lately)

2. Great idea
There will be gatherings of Obama campaign volunteers to watch the event on TV?

There should be a picture made of them holding their shoes up as the TV pictures Warren.

And sent to Obama HQ so that he may know what we think of Warren, et al.

3. And for those who might be tempted to go ahead on and throw it?
I wonder if Warren would be able to dodge as well as bushitler, he's a little heftier, and bushitler has had so much practice at dodging things in his lifetime.

13. I'm not advocating violence. The symbolism of raising the shoe in protest
will be a sufficient sign of rejection of what the man stands for.

:hi:

4. Um, you may want to re-think that idea, if you are suggesting that people at the
actual Inauguration should do that. Security will be extremely tight. Anyone making the slightest motion that appears to be threatening would be forcibly removed and that would be counter productive. The idea isn't to disrupt Obama's Inauguration is it?

OTOH, you might think of having a sign of protest. That's pure speech. You might get some boos but it is "free exercise" of speech which is constitutionally protected.

I do think we have to be sensible here.

7. Re-think, re-think.
Disruption of the Inauguration is a bad idea. Attendees could turn their backs on Warren, which I think would be great. Or have protest signs. The protests that are being voiced now mean a lot more than something that riles the huge crowd at the Inauguration. The "people" can be educated in other ways that do not get us branded as disruptors. Just a word to the wise here from an old leftie from way back when...

8. I think it would backfire
It would give too much ammunition to those already claiming "the gays" are violent and anti-Christian, or "Sexual jihadists" as Pat Boone recently claimed.

10. This is a great idea.
Or, to mimic a demonstration from previous media-saturated political gatherings, turn backs en masse to Warren when he takes the microphone.
