Lots of DUers jump on other members for having opinions... It's a shame, I agree.

5. Every now and then a freeper gets in and posts
a RW talking point or two. A lot of people here ignore them. I'm sorry to say I can't resist arguing with them. It must have been a busy day and the mods didn't catch it.

say far worse about Hillary Clinton, and they're allowed to stand.

16. well
I feel awful for Elizabeth, and hope things will be OK.

But that other thread doesn't mention Elizabeth at all. It's a very mild statement about Edwards, and Clinton is attacked far worse, every single day.

I like Edwards. I just think the outrage over somebody saying something slightly negative about him is silly.

15. I recall similar threads have been started about HRC
And possibly Obama.

Whatever the motives of the initiator of the thread some perhaps most of those posting on it will be voicing genuine concern over Edwards. There will be others with genuine concerns about HRC and BA. Supporters of the various Democratic candidates will have to address those concerns and, without rancor, counter them.

Come convention time and the Democratic candidate for president is chosen the activists for the unsuccessful hopefuls will have to put aside their genuine disappointment and possible anger and vote FOR someone they may personally dislike. If you do not do that then you may end with a BFEE president again.

17. Well, I guess we know why the poster in question is concerned
regarding Edward's good looks. From the tone of his post, it seems he is clearly "ugly to the bone."

18. Yeah, it's a bullshit thread but
you're way too reactive, and you're penchant for calling people out and calling them trolls on threads that serve no other purpose than that, is tiresome. You couldn't just have commented in the original thread. Oh no, you had to start a new thread to do it.

23. "way too reactive"
I would note that the OP did not call anyone out or call anyone a troll. You have ownership of that in the context of this thread. That said, it may have been better for him to comment on the one thread, or it may have been better to start a new one. Different people can hold different opinions on that issue, and still be good and sincere democrats, and dedicated DUers. I think that in light of the issues involving Mrs. Edwards' health concerns, that many DUers -- no matter if they support Senator Edwards in the upcoming primary season or not -- will find the tone of the other thread offensive.

20. my 2 cents ...
I don't know whether he is a troll or simply someone with a different opinion and unaware of the terrible timing of his remarks. It seems to me, either way, nothing is gained by taking the low road.

I certainly wouldn't ever try to speak for Elizabeth Edwards, but I think if she had been the first one to see that post she would have gently disagreed with his opinion and offered many examples to why he was mistaken.

Did anyone see Al Gore's answers to Inhofe yesterday? That is exactly what I am talking about. Class--pure class!

Respect for different opinions and beliefs is supposed to be what our party is about. When someone is being terribly abusive, I can understand the temptation to react in kind, but even then, it's either best to ignore or counter with a level of intelligence and character that immediately shows the other for who they are.

Or so it seems to me.

28. I don't agree with that poster at all...
In fact I campaigned for Edwards in the primaries in 04, and I might do so again.

But I'm not sure that I'd say that a thread like that shouldn't be tolerated. S/he was just stating an opinion.
