Poll question: A presidential poll: Who should be President based upon qualifications/viewpoint/voting record
This isn't about popularity or about who you think has a CHANCE of winning.. it is about who you think SHOULD win and is the person who can actually fix this mess at home and abroad.

Is there anyone out there who can actually undo all the damage the BushCoup has generated? Is it even possible?

I would like to know your views on this, so please state your opinions whether you vote or not.

Thanks

p.s. I hope I didn't leave anyone out but I only had ten slots.

3. To undo the damage of Bushco, you need a president willing to open ALL the books on Bushco.
And that is a very tall order.

Who would THAT person be?

Anything less is continuing the coverup.

31. That's why I think, based on your question, that it is odd to exclude the only lawmaker

who uncovered, investigated and exposed more government corruption than any in modern history.

And has the most progressive lifetime voting record of ANY candidate in history.

Too bad so many Democrats don't even KNOW that about their own lawmakers.

6. Undo all the damage?
That may take more than 8 years to do IMHO. I think Gore would be our best hope to get the most done in his possible 8 years in office.

10. I chose Gore although I'm not a Gore backer, really
I don't have a "favorite candidate" - it's too early for that IMO, but I do think he has the most experience and intelligence, and is probably the person who could do the best job of TRYING to undo all the damage.

I think undoing some of the damage is possible, but it will take some time. It's surely not going to happen overnight. Some things cannot be undone, like lives lost in this illegal war, soldiers maimed for life, both physically and psychologically, and the new generation of terrorists we've created - those are things we'll have to deal with, but can't undo.

Our democracy, our standing in the world, government for and by the people - those things can be returned to us, and foreign policy surely can be changed so that not everyone hates us or fears us. I think he could also do the best job in getting us out of Iraq.

13. Wes Clark, if anyone can, he will keep us out of war
The middle east is a tinder box and people keep throwing matches. Wes Clark has been on the job there for us us against the neocons and other adventurers since day one, and he has never stopped fighting for sanity. He is the strongtest voice we have now opposing the march to waa with Iran. No one is better positioned to manage the fire storm for us that the middle east has become than Wes Clark.

Gore Not Running for President

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2007/01/15/gore_not_running_for_president.html

According to Reuters, former Vice President Al Gore says that
he will definitely not run in the 2008 presidential election,

instead concerning himself with "a different kind of campaign"
to promote global warming awareness.

23. On the other hand, that webpage also says:
Update: A Bloomberg story has a different take on Gore's remarks, quoting Gore as saying he doesn't "expect" to run.

That's what he's been saying all along. I know he probably won't run, but I sure hope he does.

15. Hands down, Al Gore SHOULD be President (and should have been since 2000)
but in the real world, I don't think Al will run again. I think he's moved on and that the fire in his belly is focused on his battle against global warming.

So, who will get to clean up Bush's mess? It's amazing to me that there are so many people anxious to take on this gargantuan task.

Right now, I favor Edwards.

16. John Kerry, I know he's not running but he is the best answer to the poll question.
If we are to exclude chance of winning from consideration, well then Kerry could still be an option by write-in. :P

17. I would say any of those above and several more besides would
be able to undo the damage the Bush administration has done.

Agree with you about the urgency of that point, and plan to vote for our ticket no matter which of the above comprise it.

He does have great experience. His love of diplomacy has earned him 4 Nobel Peace Prize nominations, too.

21. I thought the same...
I saw him speak last year and he's got a good message. After I saw his credentials I was even more impressed. Still I had to vote for Gore of those listed. Not only does he deserve it but (and despite what the rw media have portrayed) he's got the intelligence and the foresight to make a great president. IMHO of course.

34. Gov. Richardson is a chameleon
That's one characteristic (of many) that makes him an ultra-effective diplomat, he really can be all things to all people, blends in well with the surroundings, and he's quick enough on the uptake to grasp the essence of complicated situations almost instantly.

He used to be my rep back when I lived in northern NM.

Ideally I wouldn't want him as my president, but he's sharp and versatile enough to fit in damn near anywhere else. Diplomacy is his forte, not leadership. I wouldn't trust him to stand up for the Right Things in the face of adversity without compromising his position, no, not really. I guess I want the president to be strong-willed and feisty as well as intelligent and diplomatic. Richardson would be great as Sec. of State, UN Ambassador (again), ambassador to any "difficult" country (e.g. Iran, Venezuela), maybe even VP.

25. Al Gore was a rabid NAFTA supporter
Am I the only one who remembers his insane free trade position? This thread should be about their record. Gore's record under Clinton as far as econ. policy goes is very weak.
