Looks like USA lawyers aren't the only ones who get the shaft for doing their jobs right.
Who will call for subpoenas on firing of a NOAA NWS Senior Hydrologist on climate change?
The Deputy Director of NOAA (2002 - 2006) who was also the director of the U.S. Climate Change Science Program, Dr. John R. Mahoney, was furious and told NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) supervisors in 2003 that he wanted Senior Hydrologist Patrick J. Neuman fired for speaking out in a personal press release on 30 Oct., 2003. The press release dealt with climate change and hydrologic change in the Upper Midwest from global warming.
Neuman gave a presentation at a combined NWS Climate Prediction Center / Desert Research Institute conference held at a casino in Sparks, Nevada, Oct. 20-24, 2003. His presentation was on snowmelt runoff trends showing earlier in the year snowmelt runoff in the Upper Midwest and northern Great Plains.
Neuman was removed from federal civil service on July 15, 2005 by his NWS supervisors after he had served the public for 26 years doing hydrologic modeling, snowmelt runoff studies, flood forecasting and water supply outlooks at the NWS North Central River Forecast Center in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
