Now Timmy Russert Has Been Exposed, Will He Start Asking Real Questions?
Russert is in the 'bull pen' warming up for his Libby trial testimony. Must have been heartwarming to hear that Cheney 'used' him and MTP to get his message out.

Timmy has two choices here. Either he can deny he was 'used' and continue being the shill he has always been for this Administration --in the face of huge rising public disapproval.

Or Timmy can dust off his journalism ethics, and begin asking real questions again.

Either way Timmy and MTP have some rehabilitation to do to restore their credibility with the public.

1. Russert was a willing whore.
He will continue to be a willing whore.

And I see no reason why we should expect some sudden journalistic revival out of him. x(

you do do not mention revenue sharing agreements". Seems they've all gotten the word and I am sure they will once again DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD. They are slave news readers, not reporters.

2. It will be interesting to see what happens.
I do feel we could possibly be on the cusp of all things GOP imploding, though. Once you start stabbing your cronies in the back, they don't take kindly to it, and they lash back at you.

That is when the bubble bursts, and the dirty laundry is hung out for all to see. Libby's trial just might be all it takes to do it. (Crossing fingers...)

5. Russert was one of many pawns.
Not sure it was intentional, but he certainly didn't slow down the propaganda machine.

6. I was wondering if he would address this on Sunday's MTP...
but then realized he wouldn't because he is an upcoming witness for the prosecution at the Libby trial. Martin's testimony sure has put him and MTP in a bind, rofl.

7. Don't.hold.your.breath.
I don't think Russert would recognize truth and journalistic independence if they slapped him in the face

8. Glad you posted this
there was a sub-thread going on here

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=45212&mesg_id=45634

but I think it's important enough to have it's own thread....

I think Russert will hide behind the "can't comment on an ongoing investigation/trial" dodge to keep from having to answer questions here but I'll repeat what I said in the other thread:

Russert probably sensed that his techniques of being defferential and uncritical of the Administration was allowing them to get away with lying to the public but he willingly traded that for ratings, access and a legitimacy that he didn't deserve....

JMHO

9. Tweety's Reactions Have Been Interesting
I thought that Matthews knew more about this case than he was letting on, but it appears he was being set up and used just like the rest of the beltway drinkie-drinkie talking heads. We now see it was Tweety just asking questions that got Crashcart's ire and pushed Libby's call to Russert and away we go. Tweety now pats himself on the back about being so "on top of things" but looked so clueless in retrospect. He looks like some kid who got someone else in class in trouble and now is gonna turn on the same bully he was trying to be best buds with not that long ago.

Russert's had a major credibility problem for a long time...this just proves what all...even those on the right...have long suspected...he could and willingly was used for access. The interesting thing we're seeing in this trial is the slow enveling of the White House spin operation...and this is just one facet of it. There's another still working away at trying to discredit Fitz and anyone who testifies against this regime.

These talking heads are weathervanes and one-dimensional. They aren't real people, but playing "reporter" or "pundit" or whatever role they choose. This isn't personal...it's their mask...and behind it they can just bounce from one thing to another and expect the viewers to have no memory of the past. It's like watching Wile E. Coyote...he falls off the cliff a dozen times, yet you know he never dies...and he's back for more.

Now how will Timmy come off on that witness stand? Will he be a pleasant or hostile witness? How convincing will his testimony be? And afterwards, how will he square all of this? Will he take a few moments on his beloved treehouse to explain or will he hope we all just forget and move along. My bets are the later.

Cheers...

17. Russert is Fitz's star witness. He will testify that Libby lied when
Libby claimed that he learned about Plame from Russert.

He will just revert to telling a heartwarming story about Big Russ and bend over for the repukes, once again.

It's all he really knows.
