Please enlighten me as to why Senate just voted no on DeMint
Amendment that wanted to "set aside social security surplus funds & bars from using them for other purposes."

I have been out for 2 days and haven't seen anything about this. Did someone slip a mickey in this amendment?

TIA - 48 :hi:

1. Senator Baucus

spoke last. He explained this is an amendment that was brought up last year, somehow amounting to the beginnings of privatization of SS.

2. Hmm, I guess I need to know more about this
I wondered why so many people crossed party lines to vote either aye or no. Thanks! :hi:

3. Seriously? I would like to have that explained somewhat
SS is a shell game, and forcing it to be run like a real pension system would be a step in the right direction.

4. DeMint is the GOP poster boy for privatization of SS
This idea of his is for putting excess SS money into a big private account and putting it aside for "workers private ownership". Yeah right, give the money to private investment firms right now. Sometime later details will be worked out as to how ownership will pass to workers.

Any bill DeMint touches is automatically a hit to middle america and money in the pocket of global elite. DeMint is Club for Growth's hero.

5. I say BRING BACK AL GORE'S LOCK BOX!
They need to just leave the SS funds alone! They need to keep their hands out of the cookie jar. No PRIVITIZATION, but leave it the hell alone...LOCK THE BOX!
