Candi Crowley (yikes) just knocked them as a bunch of cracker jacks.

If that's the case, alert the media. Democratic Underground says that Bush is a douchebag.

5. For those without tv access
The reporters are milling around outside an inn. It's a courtyard/garden. Bright sunshine. There's sort of a raised patio with a railing in front of a brick building. There are tons of cameras.

CNN says the Edwards campaign is "pushing back" against the story that Edwards is suspending. Staffers won't comment.

John and Elizabeth are reported to be present at the site.

Breast cancer, treated and cancer surgically removed, was in lymphnodes, traveled to her brain, in her back bone and neck and it was not an easy or pain free struggle.

My prayers are with them, but she has terminal cancer, they will treat it as they find it, but it will win.

39. Paraphrase of the Edwards news conference
He loves Chapel Hill, got married there 30 years ago. Elizabeth went Monday to the doctor because she felt pain on her left side, might have a fracture, and something else on the right side was suspicious, so they did followup Wednesday, bone study done, biopsy of rib showed cancer had returned, then a CT scan done showed very little; so the cancer is back, largely confined in bone, a good thing, doctors will answer questions. We are optimistic about this, have been through struggles together in past, plan to keep moving. Cancer is treatable, relatively minimal in other places, so we are optimistic, many have lived many years. But she will have it as long as she is alive, like diabetes, take your medicine. Elizabeth?

Thank you for coming. We had to talk to our family all over the country first, so everyone could hear from us first. And explained it to our children, they are hopeful that if you do what the doctor tells you... My doctor is extraordinary. And we need to keep the positive attitude. Always look for the silver lining.

Every cancer survivor goes into alarm if they feel pain, thought it might be worse than it is. Will do all the same things I did last week, just see the doctor more often. And the cracked rib lead me to get the X-ray. Versus 2 years from now if I then became symptomatic.

59. The rest of the paraphrase.
Edwards said the campaign will go on, not cowering in a corner. WIll go to NY and Boston, and to CA the next day, together. Elizabeth said she doesn't feel sickly. Some meds may make her tired, but the 6 and 8 year olds, plus being 57, might make her tired too. She thinks it is important to move ahead, and thinks the campaign is important, has substance. She said it is the people she and John have met...

She said some others are desperate, have no support, and American people need to have a president like her husband.

Edwards said he and his wife talked yesterday about what this meant, and she was talking about him and the children, not about her.

She said she picked up a heavy box, using the back, and strained her back, and then hurt when her husband hugged her, so that is why she went to the doctor's, and then went back there again after the X-ray came back.

Question: Did you think about quitting?

Edwards: We talked about it and thought about it, but as campaigning wouldn't affect treatment, why sit around feeling sorry for selves?

Elizabeth: John asked the doctor if it would make a difference in treatment, and if it would John's decision would have been different.

Q: The treatment?

Elizabeth: There is a likely protocol, but will know when the biopsy all comes back. I will have a less debilitating kind of chemo, throughout my life. The shadow on one of my ribs was probably an old break

Q: Any schedule adjustment? How to stay focused?

Edwards: Anyone wanting to be President understands that there will be pressure times, and if you can't focus, you aren't ready to be President, to function under difficult circumstances.

Elizabeth: Seen John before in tough times. He has a toughness, to push forward, after our son died and we accomplished things in his name, John got it done. He found out what the best doctors were for my breast cancer.

Both: Thanks to you all.

62. pessimists are often optimists who live in denial- there is
nothing wrong with facing the reality of death- we will all do that one day- but we need to learn to live each day like it's our last one-

Fully- seeking to find the roses among the thorns.

Meeting death face to face can make life much sweeter.
it has for me-
I believe it has for the Edwards'.

Its easier to find the bad sometimes, but what is the point?

peace,
blu

54. Very powerful presentation of a strong, loving, optimistic couple.
"Any time, any place I need to be with Elizabeth, I'll be there."
-- Edwards

Elizabeth Edwards' cancer has returned; it's in her rib bone. They are
hopeful but it's not curable; it's treatable, but apparently cancer doesn't
go away when it goes from breat to bone. As I'm typing this, Edwards says
he and Elizabeth have decided he'll continue the campaign -- they don't want
to 'cower in the corner'. She feels passionately about Edwards and the
country.

Elizabeth doesn't feel or look sickly, which is why they're holding a
conference (they wanted the press to see that they're positive and
energetic). They're both very positive and loving together. I really admire
them as a couple.
