Who do the powerful listen to?
to those that give them more power(or money, sexual favors, gifts etc.),and those who threaten their place of power.
Otherwise you are invisible,basically.
Threaten them and you might find yourself in danger.
Or be rich enough to buy them,or close to them so you are considered part of their circle. All weilders of power build a circle of people to insulate themselves from others and hide within or use certain less valued members as patsies or to 'fall on the sword' for the big kahuna.

Look at who the riot police attack and what is not reported or is under reported. There you will see who is a threat.

Anarchists apparently scare the living shit out of the G8 and the more'capitalist' power mongers. They call out all sorts of police to keep them away from their clandestine meetings.

http://struggle.ws/a_news/an25_genoa.html

Food Not Bombs for instance threatens them because they GIVE AWAY food to homeless people. This is because having control over food and who has the"privlege" of eating or drinking is a way to control a population.

The most desperate threaten them because they have nothing to lose if they should mobilize.
People who believe death makes them a martyr threaten them because they cannot be cowed by death or threat of death or even torture.

These people threaten the authoritarian operations of this so called democracy.

Become a threat you will see.
An empire that is in any form authoritarian cannot tolerate a community with equality and sharing within it's owned and corporate lands.

They will destroy it.

That's why Abbie Hoffman's Free Store was firebombed. The hippies scared the shit out of the authoritarians. Like always.

Because of Stanley Milgram's results.

Because of Bullies

And Social engineering
http://hubpages.com/hub/What-is-social-engineering

There are many more reasons why people get it wrong when they put hope in the masses to be disobedient or to stand up against abusers of power.
Most people seem to have an OUTER locus of control and unable to lead themselves. The masses are also manipulated by power and authority and it's symbols and implicit threats. And most people hate to admit they are vulnerable to manipulation, which ironically makes people easier to manipulate.

We do not live in a democracy, it only has the appearance of one.

7. Planning on it.
Wouldn't mind having ya' along either. It's good to have unorthodox intellects along on suicide missions.

Actually, I have a couple of scary brilliant ideas. So much so, that if anyone in the right places knew about and understood them, I'd be 'suicided' in no time. Much though I'd love to share, you can understand my reluctance.

I've decided to take on a lighter project for now. Wanna help?

4. All governments fear intellectuals
Democracies, Republics, Dictatorships all fear and loathe the intelligent among their populations because these are the people who blow the whistles and sound the alarms when things are not as they should be.

Stalin famously said "Ideas are more powerful than guns. We do not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas?"

8. 'Integrity'....
It's the one thing they cannot tolerate or deal with.

They can fight ideas with the media, money, and threats. They can only fight integrity with threats and violence until the subject becomes visible.

Think Sibel Edmonds.

And the only thing that keeps their corrupt structure intact is the utter lack of integrity in Congress itself. Otherwise we could clean up this mess that is the US Government.

6. I think they only listen to the evil thoughts in their own heads
They don't listen to anyone else because like all good sociopaths they don't see others as sentient entities but rather as playthings for their own amusement. No, I'm not bitter, why do you ask?
