"How technology killed the Boogieman"
Or How the Internet killed the GOP,
The Republican party's demise is inevitable, Why? Because the technology to quickly and definitively debunk their message of hate, fear, and racism, has become so commonplace. The laptop computer, wireless internet, and "The Google" now fact checks every word our politicians utter. The proof is the candidacy of John McCain. A man the RNC would have never chosen as their standard bearer. Mitt Romney had the looks, Huckabee had the Right wing-nuts, McCain had what? Palin! How could this be! What had happened to Rove's dream "A permanent Republican Majority?" The dirty tricks didn't work, the outright lies weren't believed, even Joe the plumber couldn't save him. Racism isn't working, Wacky preacher isn't working, Domestic terrorist isn't working? Bush economy, working. Katrina, Working. Iraq, Working.
I submit the American people as a whole have achieved a level of comfort with technology that makes a return of the same Old GOP entirely laughable.
The wanton corruption, arrogance, and hubris of this admin. has only served to make the demise more obvious. The president enjoys the lowest approval ratings in recorded history! Seventy five percent of a recent poll want him gone! Twenty eight percent want him prosecuted.
Knowledge is a powerful tool when used wisely!

1. The GOP will retool and come back as some new evil incarnate.
Count on it.

2. I'm sure of that
But it will take generations to get back the public's confidence.

9. You overestimate the collective memory and intelligence of the American people.

How many voted for McCain/Palin? The difference between that number and the number that voted for Obama/Biden is all that the repukes need to swindle - and they will do it. If not in 2010, then in 2012 or 2014 or 2016.

People are already cursing Obama for everything from the economy to Blogo to the Warren thing - and he has not even had a chance to sit at his desk.

Memories are short.

But I think that taking a strong economy into 2012 will sew up the election for Obama. All he has to do is pull out the "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" video from the repuke candidate.

3. They rely on fear. Fear and lies can also sell. We are at a cross roads.
The next 4/ (8) years promises to supply some real lessons.

4. It used to be Bogeyman
In Government terms an unidentified flying object is referred to as a Bogey. A Bogeyman is basically an alien from a Bogey..

5. What the internet does is allow you seek out voices that you agree with
And it will continue to do that. If you only visited the Drudge Report, and World Net Daily, and Townhall and National Review, well, you aren't going to be exposed to any debunkings of your cherished beliefs. Cable TV will follow a similar path I believe; until you can happily create your own Bush Like Bubble to live in.

Some people will choose not to of course. And some people will crawl into a totally different kind of bubble, I suppose.

11. Not necessarily a bubble reality -- one important aspect of seeking out those who agree
is eventually you realize you've got the numbers required to create actual change.

Crowds are dispersed, quakers are infiltrated, forums are disrupted and wells are poisoned exactly to discourage that kind of gathering momentum and resulting "realization".

8. A bit optimistic...
More people still believe in angels than in evolution. And so it goes.

10. The Internet is merciless, even to those with the best intentions.
But,then, as Chester used to say: " If you don't step on your dick now and then, you're not trying hard enough."

13. And now they are opening up their closets & showing us their Klan robes
The only things that could "save" the republican party would also doom it to a permanent 15% party..
1) dump the religious wackos
2) dump the gun freaks
3) dump the homophobic nutcases
4) dump the racists

That brings them back to what they used to be..the party of business and old-money.....and neither of those entities are in much high regard these days..

you know, like the corporate media.
