RIPOFF ALERT!!! You May Lose Comedy Central shows because of dispute
I was at Comedy Central's website just now, and this pop up came up on my screen.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

Attention Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks customers, starting tonight, you will lose your favorite Comedy Central shows on TV and online because of a dispute with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. You can stop this! Time Warner Cable customers call 1-800-762-3786 and Bright House Networks customers call 1-866-309-3279, AND DEMAND THEY KEEP YOUR CHANNEL! 2. New there was a good reason...
for dumping cable 7 years ago. Yeah, bad weather fucks up directv, but that is what they make DVD players for. In 7 years I have never lost any programming, but have gained a few.

5. They ran that damn annoying banner all night long last night.
And since I'm not on either of the cable systems mentioned, it would have been nice if they could have kept it off the other cable systems.

8. It's not just comedy central
VH1, Spike, Nickelodeon, MTV, TVLand....
I hate Time Warner-they took away our NBC affiliate a few months back for several weeks. They moved National Geographic to their digital package, took away doppler radar and a couple of weeks ago they moved our PBS2 as well.

9. Time Warner's side of the story
We are negotiating earnestly, honestly and fairly with MTV Networks, but so far have been unable to reach an agreement or get an extension.

MTV Networks may pull these channels from your lineup on January 1st.

Read a Statement from Glenn Britt, President & CEO, Time Warner Cable >>

• MTV Networks wants our customers to pay millions more. They are currently demanding price increases that are nearly triple the rate of increase under our current agreement. These increases would be excessive even in a strong economy, but given the current conditions, it’s simply not fair to our customers.

• MTV’s demands are outrageous and would force our customers to pay millions of dollars more per year. MTV’s networks are not worth so much more today than they were yesterday, especially given the fact that their ratings are mostly declining in recent years.

• Much of their popular programming is also available for free online. In this economy, we don’t believe it’s appropriate to ask our customers to pay so much more for programming with declined ratings or that's available for free.

• We’ve successfully negotiated hundreds of programming agreements with other cable networks, many within the last few months. Our hope is that we will come to an agreement with MTV Networks that is fair to our customers.

10. All the Viacom stations have a news crawl about it today.
and we lost our NBC affil for about a month because of a similar dispute.

It'll get worked out. Neither of them can afford to go without the other one.

13. Full episodes of Daily Show are on-line.
We got rid of satellite last summer and watch Daily Show a day late. We climb into bed with the laptop to watch it and are happily not paying $70 a month for a ton of channels we didn't watch.

when Virgin Media cable and Sky satellite fell out. Took about a year to sort so maybe don't hold your breath.

18. I really don't care to be honest.

Looking at the channels that may go off air there isn't anything I would really miss all that much. I rarely watch Stewart or Colbert anymore and the other channels are no big loss. All those MTV channels and they all suck. I think TWC should charge Viacom for carrying MTV. It hasn't been relevant in 15 years.
