Awwww ..... I feel really awful for them ........
...... the poooooooor investors in Dubai. According to CBS Nooz, values are down 50%. And the Dubai government admits to the highest per capita dept in the world ..... and not enough oil to cover it. Essentially ...... they're bankrupt.

Poooor Poooor Poooooooooooooooooor Investors.

Do I really need to say that this is sarcasm? Mmmmmmm .... probably.

5. I can't say I'm particularly surprised
because the more fake wealth individuals amassed, the more enormous the debt they took on. That it should extend to countries is no surprise to me, especially when those countries do things like indoor ski slopes in a middle eastern desert and housing developments on kitschy man made islands designed to maximize the number of yacht slips.

Sic transit glorious money.

Hell, I know a few millionaires personally that are my age (40 or so) and they're nobodys.

20 or 30 million may seem like a lot to many people, but it's not much when you're playing at that level.

They fly to Dubai, get on a boat, and spend a month at their vacation home...or they never see the place and just lease it out.

14. Why the need to mock them? It's actually very important to mock them. It helps wake people up from
the delusion that wealth = virtue. It helps create class solidarity. It helps disempower the money class by breaking the illusion that they are smarter and worthier than the rest of us. It helps discredit the entire notion of wealth for wealth's sake, the entire notion of conspicuous consumption.

The wealthy Dubai fantasists deserve every figurative toss of shoes that the masses can muster.

17. They're people with money that bought funky manmade islands...
Had the economy stayed strong, those would have been profitable investments. As it turns out, it didn't and they weren't...such is investing.

I disagree that there exists the mystique that you suggest. They're just either wealthy people buying a vacation home or investors looking to make some money.

25. Why mock anyone for the sake of mocking them?
It only makes enemies. No good can come from it. Shun decisions that are improper in their wheeling and dealing, don't shun the person. No one changes if you cause them to turn a deaf ear.

36. Has anyone ever seen how they treat workers?
Almost all laborers are foreign. The live in squaller. They live in shanty towns crammed together and sleep in shifts. It is sick. I know this is the only money these men get to send home but shit! Those SOB's live in palaces and many of their people don't even have to work. I feel bad for them losing their jobs, but I hope they go home and get treated a bit better. I for one can't stand that country!
Oh, and they killed off a bunch of coral reefs building those stupid islands. I hope they have big ol' traffic jams on them everyday! One little road to get out, the boat traffic must be just as bad.
