We may never cross paths but
we can show a little bit of hometown. With all the turmoil of the last few weeks maybe showing where we come from will ease some of the divisiveness. Two shot minimum to keep from killing computers. Mods, while it looks like a photo thread I felt GD would get more hits, thus give more people a chance at showing their hometown America.

28. Your Pic of Manhattan Beach Pier. . .
. . .reminds me a LOT of Belmont Pier in Long Beach. There's a great restaurant/brew pub (Belmont Brewing Company) right there by the pier and just north of the olympic swimming pool there.

Your picture brought back some fond memorites.

Thanks Peggy.

65. Look at the top picture ......
.... about in the middle .... there's a two story brick building with three store fronts in it. The right-most store front (as you view the picture) has two American flags and a dark green/sagey sort of awning thingus on it. That is a restaurant. Actually, that has been a whole series of restaurants. Each of them was pretty good. NONE of them lasted. I have no idea why.

Well ...... no normal reason why .......

Ellicott City has suffered a series of floods and fires over the years. On the downhill side of that picture is a tall, whitish stone bank building (until last year, still an active bank). On the uphill side is a light brick building with gray trim. Between the two is the place I think you ate; it is part of a run of (relatively) new construction lower height brick buildings. They're new because the originals burned to the ground in 1984. The fire started ...... in the building where that restaurant was ...... in the fryer ..... of an old restaurant! You mentioned a ghost tour. Yeah, they still do it. I don't know why that place isn't on the tour. It is said to be haunted. Or at least cursed.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/movies/bal-ellicottjan06,0,7808412.htmlstory

Here's a picture of the 84 fire. The spot where the restaurant is now is the rightmost of the two white clapboard buildings with the flames coming out of the roof. The light brick building I mentioned, above, is on the right of this picture and it was relatively unscathed by the fire. The fire started in the back of the rightmost burning building, ran along the backs of the row of buildings, destroyed the downhill brick buildings, and **then** ran back uphill and destroyed the building in which it started! Think about that. NO fire does that ...... does it? :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the pizza! :scared:

66. That's it, I'm sure. They were closed for the day last summer so I didn't get to eat there.
I've heard much about the floods from over the years and I think they mentioned the fire during the tour. I remember one building, a granite/marble thing on the south side of the street that apparently had been a mortuary ?? because it had some morbid stonework on it. (If I'm remembering right.)

I will probably be in Baltimore the weekend before the inauguration, but I'll be pretty busy. I'm sure I'll be in Baltimore for a good time this summer visiting my friends who live in Catonsville and Fells Point. They're the ones who first took me for breakfast in Ellicott City (at that place down by the river as you enter town.)

12. Thanks ! I sometimes
sell my palouse (eastern Washington) stuff. I was commissioned to do some work for the local hospital recently and sold those. My NCAA stuff gets weird, the rules say I can sell sports photos but the schools say no. To keep it safe I don't sell those. If you want that first one I'll print it for you, I have a 13X19 roll printer. It looks like a black and white but it's really a color shot.

My original plan when I saw the proofs of my first shoot was to go back at 3 month intervals and restage each shot to reflect the change of seasons...hence the name...but life intervened and "Autumn" is the only season ever filmed. I always thought the series could have been stunning.
