11. Reminds me of when our little poodle had a false pregnancy

she carried around a little red squeeky toy, and nudged it toward her tummy to nurse..and washed it and slept with it.. (she had been spayed, and had never even seen a male dog).. The vet had to give her some hormone shots..and we had to remove her "baby" from the house... she looked and looked for that thing..and we never bought her another toy that squeeked:)

38. I love all baby ages, but the most adorable age is about

8 and a half months to 15 months, because at that age they are total clowns. They laugh at everything and will do anything to get a laugh out of you.

I like the larval stage because the are so miraculous at that age--changing and developing before your eyes, just like a plant in a fast-motion photography film. It doesn't een seem real sometimes. I did daycare for 18 years, raising 35 children, many of them from 2 weeks of age. People who think that newborns don't do anything just don't know newborns. They do smile and play and learn at that age.

But those babies between 8.5 and 15 months are simply hilarious. Whenever someone with a 5- or 6-month-old goes on about their baby, I tell them, "Yep. They are incredibly adorable at that age, but just wait. You won't believe how much more adorable they will get in just a couple of months!

The BBC did one of their sexploitation shows on the fake baby phenomenon. It took a bit of a turn when it came out that one of the women lavishing every cent she had on baby clothes and toys and other stuff had been through a stillbirth some 6 months earlier.

I didn't expect pain, so it was merely interesting (kind of an out-of-body experience because your body is on automatic). I've talked to quite a few with the same general experience, especially ladies with a background of psychedelics. My next baby, I had a cerclage and went into labor early, and it took hours for the doc to come and remove the stitches, so I know that pain can be very real and you can't always get around emergencies (too-large kid, too-small opening, sideways, etc.) but pooh-pooh all you want--state of mind and expectations have a HUGE effect on how pleasurable you find it. IMHO, we're mammals and childbirth is simply the return trip of a sex act. The fact that it's always portrayed in movies and teevee as this intensely painful experience is the biggest disservice to women of all because that promotes lousy expectations for a lot of women with no other role models.

If you look on eBay, they're selling like crazy, and for huge prices. You don't have to settle for a generic baby, either--they will make one to your specifications and the show I saw (on BBCA) had a woman order one that looked like her grandson. I was halfway sympathetic because they made it sound like her daughter had died and the SIL took the kid home to Oz. Nope--the family simply moved away. Another woman had a room full of the things and spent thousands of dollars on accessories and clothes--a baby for every mood, a pram for every occasion, and £1000 outfits ("not like they outgrow them!") Honestly, the whole thing is as pathetic as it is creepy. I suppose we could find men with equally unhealthy obsessions (pr0n, trains, or Star Wars?), but they'd have to really be lost in them to rival how disturbing this is.

I can see them, however, for Alzheimer's patients. Nothing calms an old lady like having a baby to care for. Of course, if you're demented you can probably do with a hand-me-down from a granddaughter's outgrown toys.

Children don't require this degree of realism in their toys (in fact it might be dangerous to healthy growth). They understand the distinction between what's pretend and real and are okay
