Palin is odds-on favorite to win 2012 GOP nomination
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is the front-runner to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, according to online oddsmakers.

Despite a slew of negative press this fall about Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) running mate, online gaming site Superbook.com puts Palin’s odds at 3.5-1, the best among Republican hopefuls.

Other top GOP contenders include former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whose odds are set at 4-1, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, at 5-1.

Former Rep. Bobby Jindal (R-La.), who is now governor of Louisiana, has a 6-1 shot of claiming the nomination.

show even the dumbest that she is so far outta her league that she will crawl back to Wasilla and stay forever.

I like our odds with that one.

3. Good lord, it's four years away
and anything can happen. I wonder what Barack's odds of winning were back in 04. OTOH, I find it rather comforting that she is the best they have to offer. Says a lot about the state of the party.

4. I think it will be Mitt
she may challenge in the primary, but my bet it Mitt. I think he is laying low, building up his team and will be their nominee. Having her in the primary mix will just make things tougher for him.

12. Misleading title from 'The Hill'; 'odds-on' means a better than even chance
http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?o2=&o0=1&o7=&o5=&o1=1&o6=&o4=&o3=&s=odds-on&h=0&j=0#c

Odds-on
Odds of less than even money. This a bet where you have to outlay more than you win. For example if a horse is two to one odds-on, you have to outlay two dollars to win one dollar and if the horse wins you collect a total of three dollars (the two dollars you bet and the one dollar you won).

http://www.betusa.com/horses/glossary.html

So, while she is their current favourite (I guess they still regard the Republicans as politically suicidal), they're not actually saying they think she's more likely to be the candidate than all the others combined, which is what 'odds-on' would mean. And yes, I've checked that site - she's quoted, in the American method of giving odds, as '+350' - any positive number means it's regarded as less likely than an even chance.

15. Good.
It will prove one of two things:

Either the GOP and their supporters have been reduced to sheer farce . . .

. . . or the even worse scenario that America would collectively become even more brain-dead if she gets elected President. Should that abomination occur, it will prove wholesale that America doesn't take their elections seriously and care only about image instead of qualifications and making things right.

I don't think she'd win if she ran. I think the people of this country spoke in mad volumes about our dissatisfaction with the Republicans and the wholesale destruction their party has caused these past 8 years. And no amount of bullshitting by the right-owned media (who are already trying to pin this horrid economy on Obama :wtf: ) is going to change the fact that 28 non-consecutive years of right-wing rule caused this mess. Bewsh merely rocketed the madness into the stratosphere, making things much, MUCH worse.

20. 2012 GOP nom is a throw-away
might as well make history - first woman, first alaskan, first candidate to live within eyesight of Russia.

Whoever they select is not going to win, unless Obama totally melts down in the next four years.

But, it's maybe a bit early to start the 2012 primary season, even on DU.

:hi:

Twenty percent of the voters like her. The rest think she is laughable.

Let them run her and make it easy for us.

23. If voters are pleased with President Obama's first term, and I think
they will be, the Republicans aren't going to stand much of a chance against him, which would be an excellent outcome.

Palin doesn't have a lower-48 scaffolding. She's way the hell up north and far west of any major media market or Party infrastructure, and that's on a good day. On the days when she and Todd are pallin' around with secessionists, she's even farther removed and even more unviable.

If Willard and Huck want the nomination, they're going to take her out early and easily.
