About the Program
A memorial for author and radio host Studs Terkel who died on October 31, 2008 at the age of 96. The participants include author Walter Mosley, publisher emeritus of The Nation Victor Navasky, musicians Steve Earle and Allison Moorer, columnist and author Jimmy Breslin, radio host and author Laura Flanders, historian and author Howard Zinn, editor and publisher of The Nation Katrina vanden Heuvel, author Stetson Kennedy, founding director of The New Press Andre Schiffrin, columnist Gary Younge, Mr. Terkel's son Dan Terkell, and longtime friend and collaborator Sydney Lewis. The event takes place at The Great Hall at Cooper Union in New York City.
