This has always been and will continue to be an asset for the Clintons.

May the Edwards Family find renewed health, hapiness & comfort in the coming months.

HRC put up a picture of John Edwards and Elizabeth Edwards at www.hillaryclinton.com with a statement, "Elizabeth is a wonderful, strong individual and my thoughts and prayers are with her, John, and their children during this difficult time. I admire her optimism and strength in the face of adversity, and I look forward to seeing them both on the campaign trail."

I hope this helps :)

24. This is how Democrats should be treating one another, we are in this together...
... and when one of the fine candidates we have running for President this time suffers a personal setback, we need to show that we as Democrats are different, we care about each other, and we are all committed to promote the larger goal of working together to make things better for all Americans.

I think someone with the Hillary campaign certainly gets it. Her focus needs to be on the Republicans who have trashed our civil liberties, financially devastated this country, broken our military, and lied us into war with Iraq costing us thousands of lives.

All of our candidates cannot be elected President. But all of our candidates can contribute mightily by bringing important issues to the forefront and working together to recapture the White House for the Democrats.

I didn't think we could nominate an individual reply in a thread for the greatest page. Guess we can, sort of. :)

And you know what? Democrats and Republicans used to feel like we were all in this together. It's been a long time since I've seen any indication that this is so. We have always had our differences but it was Saint Gipper who actually poisoned the well. I didn't think it could get worse but I guess our current president has been full of surprises, hasn't he?

Some will be dissappointed or even have their hearts broken, no matter who the nominee is. (Mine was broken in 2000 when the world was robbed of a great man's leadership.) History will be on our side to win back the WH, in any event.

It's nice and all, but this isn't about "class". This is about being a decent human being. If Hillary did NOT say that, then she'd be an asshole.

All I'm asking is, how does this make Hillary any better than the other candidates (and millions of Americans) who have wished the best for the Edwards?

75. Decent humans running for office is a rarity
I may not make her "better" than *all* of the other candidates, but, come on, would Bush, Chenney, Guliani, McCain, etc., etc., ever do this? Put a nice looking, positive picture of their OPPONENT on their OWN home page? Not a press release, mind you, "I wish the Edwards family all the best during this blah, blah, bullshit compassion, etc." but EYEBALLS.

She is giving one of her leading opponents EYEBALLS. That's like spending your own money to run your opponent's ads.

So, in my mind, Hill *showing* she's a decent human being (not just asserting it), DOES make her more decent than 99.9% of the politicians I have ever encountered. Was it calculated to make her look good? Maybe. Would she have done it if it had made her look bad. Doubtful. But it is still over and above what anyone else has done.

And if it is politically advantageous for someone to be nicer than they have to be, there just might be hope for us yet!

:patriot:

(Oh, and personally, for me, in terms of issues, policy, and prospects against the Repugs, Hill is not even in my top 5. Well, she might be now, after this.)

78. Well, it's like this...
Go to Rudy or Romney or McCain's websites...see anything about Elizabeth Edwards, like you saw on Obama or Hillary's sites? Not one little blurb

These guys said to themselves--"Well, she's the wife of a DEMOCRATIC competitor for the White House. Not one of our guys, so better stay quiet and say nothing." And to think this election was touted by many as a return to clean politics and bipartisan civility on the campaign trail!

This is a reminder that, while we all may disagree with Hillary from time to time, she is NOT the enemy. Those other jokers, who are still playing the GOP-loyalty game, should be ashamed of themselves.

81. brace yourself for limpbutt's response
that this is a conniving, cynical move by Hillary to make political hay out of someone's misfortune by pretending to be sympathetic

sigh...i really wish there were a way to purge the world of evil people. I respect this gesture and don't want to hear their spin. Hell, they's accuse Mother Theresa of being up to no good.
