The next great lie from the pulpits that won't die?
Edited on Sat Jan-03-09 10:53 AM by TWiley
It has long been established that fundamentalist religion is merely a front for tax free republican political campaigning. So many modern and tenacious falsehoods, emanate from under the steeple any more.

The past couple months, I have had heard many assertions from the religious folks that Mr. Obama is actually not a U.S. citizen, that his Hawaiian birth certificate was forged as part of a supernatural conspiracy. I remember hearing a blurb on the MSM some time ago concerning questions of Obama's citizenship, but the stories I heard were largely nothing.

Those I have talked to seem amazed when I tell them that John Mc Cain was not born in America. He was actually born in Panama. While I do not dispute Mc Cain's citizenship, it seems odd that this old story simply will not die.

This perception is strongest in the fundamentally religious / survivalist population around here. Incidentally, these are among the most vocal supporters of Sara Palin that I have personally met.

What is up with this mantra anyway? It is beginning to read like a Rove intrigue novel.

1. They're desperate...grasping at straws...
Lots of people simply cannot believe that we elected a BLACK MAN as President. It's inconceivable, so there must be some sort of fraud going on. After all, none of them know a SINGLE PERSON who voted for Barack Obama.

7. Is there any media outlet that broadcasts this? Limbaugh?
Or is it more of a word-of-mouth whisper campaign?

11. Not that I know of....at least not directly.
However, the wingnuts can't believe that Barack Obama will be the President of The United States come January 20. They simply can't accept such a thing, don't understand it, and are all confused and stuff about it.

That's the reason the stupid birth certificate nonsense keeps surfacing in winger circles. Right now, there's a new theory that comes from a divorce decree in Hawaii that supposedly links to a Port of Entry document that supposedly says that Barack the Younger was born in Kenya.

And so it continues, and will continue, even after Barack Obama has been President for years. It's nutsy, but that word is derived from "nut" as in "wingnut." Buncha morons!

16. That's the Republican Party.
Besides racists, they cater to sexual repressives, authoritarians, militarists, and the plutocrats that collect the dues.

5. desperation, denial
a lot of people are clinging to fantasies , even these kind, in hopes that obama wont be sworn in...as if..they are terrified that he won by a landslide also..it doesnt compute to them that a majority of americans want him to be pres. a lot of people live in little racist enclaves of their own making..any other kind of thinking is inconcievable to them. they will make something else up if this doesnt work, believe me.

12. It's called "denial"
They still cannot belive, nor accept, that an African American man has been elected president.

They are so deep in denial that they beleive the SCOTUS will derive a new definition of "natural born" so that both of a native born American's parents must also be citizens in order for that native born person to also be natural born, thus creating a third class of citizen within our nation.

BE careful on January 20. Heads will be exploding nationwide.

Now that they out of power they will retreat into their wacko "millitias" and "Branch-Davidian"-style compounds of the Clinton years. Expect them to resort to McVeigh-type domestic terrorism.

15. constant and incessant smearing at work
the republican philosophy is to smear with anything and everything and just see what sticks.
even if he's eventually cleared of a rumor or accusation (a) some people won't believe he's really cleared and (b) it helps create an image that he's not on the up-and-up or whatever, so that the next rumor or accusation is seen as more credible.

eventually people figure enough is enough, anyone with so many accusations must be dirty and they'll want rid of him. this was the anti-clinton strategy from the get-go and it led to his eventual impeachment. he remained popular without it, largely due to his extraordinary political capabilities and charisma, and some of those who led the impeachment suffered at the ballot box, but they did enough damage to make the strategy seem worthwhile.

there's no way they're going to sit idly by and let obama be obama.

they'd rather side with the terrorists and impair our soon-to-be president than let him do good for the country.

17. Conservatives just can't handle the truth. Facts are terrorist tools to
conservative "minds." They're so easily threatened by honesty and reality, they need to fall back on lies, propaganda and sound bites; it's all they can handle.
Their little Freeptard heads would explode if they tried to wrap their minuscule amounts of grey matter around the real world.

18. This is why Obama feels he must kowtow to the Religious Right...
they are too powerful.

People associated with the Defense Dept. appeared on Larry King recently trying to convince the viewers that we are under threat of UFOs knocking out our defenses. This shows how gullible people are.

They will steal the credibility the attention will give their cult, and then redouble their attack.
