I have been corresponding with him - I purchased the DVD from his company.

He sent me several links, and I'd like to share for discussion:

BOOGIE MAN IN THE MEDIA

On MSNBC's Morning Joe: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/26901579#26901579

On The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell: http://www.kcrw.com/etc/programs/tt/tt081029stefan_forbes

On PRI's The Takeaway (scroll down): http://www.thetakeaway.org/stories/2008/nov/10/

On NPR's Talk of The Nation: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=94931206

Jeffrey Lyons on Reel Talk calling Boogie Man "astonishing and compelling": http://video.reeltalktv.com/player/?id=784821

In each of his interviews, he comments on how the Democrats have yet to figure how how to respond to GOP slurs, especially the "lack of patriotism" card.

What do you think?

1. I don't think there is any subtle way to counter the patriotism
slurs... It requires a "gloves off" take-no-prisoners response and so far we've not seem many Dems willing to go so "nuclear." Not that the ammunition isn't there, mind you, but our side seems to be handcuffed by their "honor."

I'm anxious to see this movie on Atwater. I heard one interview (and will take some time with your links in coming days), but seemed he discounted the story of the death bed conversion somewhat...

2. The corpmedia is the gatekeeper of what response gets heard.

No Dem candidate ever gave a tougher response to the patriotism issue than Kerry did, however, not ONE newschannel would broadcast his response that included a challenge of Bush to stop hiding behind the lies of the swifts and show the integrity to publicly debate their services during Vietnam.

Every news channel refused to broadcast that speech and few news programs even reported the speech occurred. Within weeks many news organizations acted as if the speech never happened at all and have been rewriting the campaign ever since.

Most Democrats are unaware of the counterattacks from then - DU's Research Forum has the actual dates and responses for the record....

And, sadly, most Democratic bignames WOULDN'T go on TV and further Kerry's attacks on Bush as most of them were supporting Bush's commander-in-chief positions wholeheartedly at the time, and were loathe to publicly side with Kerry's challenge of Bush.
