I love it.
They have totally dropped the pretense of offering any entertainment to justify running commercials,
just went straight to commercials, for hours.
Soon I expect them to just run banner ads, on a blank screen, telling us to just send in money.

1. Certainly the Magic Bullet blender is more important than the war in Gaza.

3. Yet another wholesale abuse by broadcasters of their public interest obligations
This station's license should be granted to someone else come renewal time. Simple as that.

The FCC might also consider re-enacting regulations that existed priot to Reagan's administration that limited the amount of commercial time per hour.

5. This is why Netflix and Internet is good. You watch what you want, when you want, without
having the stations hammer you with advertisements or guilt-trip news stories about far away wars that have nothing to do with us.

6. Regarding commercials, if you start talking to a male/female symbol
on a bathroom door about your bladder control problem and what kind of legal drug you should be taking to correct it, your bladder isn't your biggest problem.

9. Remember when the networks ran sports all weekend?
well..all the sports channels seem to have stolen their thunder, and now they have is infomercials.. ours do the same thing..even during the times they used to run cartoons on Sat am..

and the major networks don't even pretend to offer much in prime time either.. ..and when they do manage to come up with an interesting series, they cancel it and offer some other crappy show which they will show 4 episodes of, and then cancel too..

about all they seem to want to offer these days, is amateur hour, schlocky dance contests, retread game shows & fake-reality shows.. ..and they wonder why no one's watching?

12. My one gripe about Mr. D.
We gotta pay for the expensive satillite channels so he can watch Sci-Fi ch.
When he bothers to turn on tv between 7 and 10 at night.

Between us, we don't watch 10 hours total of tv a week.

A fact I will present him with if they increase the bill.

13. Aren't there regulations about the maximum amount of ads they can run?
eg, for the UK

"Nevertheless, on the commercial channels, the amount of airtime allowed by the UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom for advertising is an overall average of 7 minutes per hour, with limits of 12 minutes for any particular clock hour (8 minutes per hour between 6pm and 11pm)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_commercial

The contracts for commercial TV in Britain were called, by the chairman who got one of them, a "license to print money" when they were first awarded.
