A Call For Peace: Recommend to call Hamas and Israel to the Peace table.
Edited on Sat Jan-03-09 04:23 PM by Just A Yeller Dawg
Doesn't matter who you think is right, at this point the insanity of war grows each day in Gaza and surrounding areas.

Lets show some solidarity in that we want NO civilian deaths on either side.

Hell, I'd be happy to see no deaths at all on either side.

The Carter Center Peace Programs: Peace With Justice

The Carter Center's peace programs strengthen freedom and democracy in nations worldwide, securing for people the political and civil rights that are the foundation of just and peaceful societies.

Amid the trend toward greater democracy, The Carter Center has become a pioneer in the field of election observation, monitoring more than 70 national elections to help ensure that the results reflect the will of the people.

Beyond elections, the Center seeks to deepen democracy by nurturing full citizen participation in public policy-making and by helping to establish government institutions that bolster the rule of law, fair administration of justice, access to information, and government transparency.

A culture of respect for human rights is crucial to permanent peace. The Center supports the efforts of human rights activists at the grass roots, while also working to advance national and international human rights laws that uphold the dignity and worth of each individual.

When democracy backslides or formal diplomacy fails, the Center offers mediation expertise and has furthered avenues for peace in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia.

Since 1982, The Carter Center has shown in more than 70 nations that creating a world at peace is a very possible journey, one step at a time.

3. Rather sad, Sir, How a call For Peace Gets One Reply In An Hour....
"War is, at first, the hope that one will be better off; nest, the expectation that the other fellow will be worse off; the, the satisfaction that he isn't any better off; and, finally, the surprise at everyone's being worse off."

4. I feel the same way.
If the subject was DUI or smoking there would have been hundreds of replies by now.

It is indeed sad.

5. I am horribly depressed by what is going on
They are burning innocent men, women and children in Gaza with white phosphorous. I am unable to muster any hope that anyone will stop them.

But a K&R anyway...

8. K&R. You've sure got my vote... The time for peace in this region is way overdue.
Too bad that Bush* would rather wage war than broker peace... :grr:

And kudos to Jimmy Carter... :patriot:

9. Here's my k&r -- had I seen your post sooner I would have responded sooner.
It's clear that people would rather be "right" than work for genuine peace. I hope someday this changes...

And then the peace process needs to resume.
