Swastikas daubed on Holocaust memorial

BERLIN (AP) — Berlin police say vandals have daubed swastikas on some of the slabs that make up the German capital's Holocaust memorial.

A police statement says security guards discovered the swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans on 12 slabs Saturday lunchtime. Authorities ordered the graffiti's swift removal.

The memorial to the Holocaust's 6 million Jewish victims consists of a field of 2,700 gray slabs situated close to the capital's Brandenburg Gate.

This coming from a big supporter of the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon. That's an easy one. To insult the dead, victims of fascism is just ridiculous and gratuitously cruel in spirit. These people were victims of the same sort of racist, hypernationalist tendency currently on display elsewhere. The real fight is outside of Gaza at this time, and the weapons are RPGs and AK47s. These misguided kids with paintbrushes (or spraycans, but I liked the rhythmic mix of 'paintbrushes' instead, quiant though it may be) should find some of those, go there, if they wish make a more effective statement.

I was expressing my problems with this recent conflict in Gaza to a friend and he decided to unload his long hidden love of Nazi Germany and loathing of Israel. A part of his recent rant:
