I reminded him that he WOULD see 2011, but if he had been born in 1911, he would be old, and would have definitely have had different parents :)

6. the end of the world as we know it
That's great, it starts with an earthquake,
birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane,
listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs.
Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no.
Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height.
Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site.
Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then.
Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do.
Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed.
Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower.
Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn.
Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate.
Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down.
Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier.
Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide.
Mount St. Edelite.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom!
You symbiotic, patriotic,
slam, but neck, right? Right.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...
(It's time I had some time alone)

president and he was stuck in his new bathtub, but they managed to get plied out by the time of the inaugural. Teddy Roosevelt was so distraut over his loss as a third party bull mooser in the election that he was still holding his breath unless he would become president.

16. Utter bullshit.....
...I love how people get freaked out over a prediction made many moons ago and made by shamans, know-nothings, and medicine men that the world is going to come to an end (clue: Earth has been around for 4 billion years, it ain't ending) when science can refute every single one of their prognostics.

24. The Mayans never even made such a prediction.
The "end of the world" bullshit is a recent creation by some idiot New Ager who saw that the Mayan calendar was "ending" and declared that must mean a great Cosmic Shift. In reality, it just means that we're starting a new cycle by their calendar, and that's it.

60. What the Maya say of their own calendar
Steep Uphill Climb to 2012:
Messages from the Mayan Milieu

...Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed. The indigenous have the calendars, and know how to accurately interpret it, not others."

..."It will change," Mr. Barrios observes. "Everything will change." He said Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from — and signified by — the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy."

Mayan predictions aside, no culture in the history of the world has as of yet provided the date of some apocalypse. Why should this be any different. We're more advanced than the Mayans. Why can't we predict the apocalypse? Oh right, because such an idea is stupid and religiously based.
