Would the Big Three do well to emulate the 'Hyundai Assurance' program?
Maybe you've seen the commercials this week: Hyundai is advertising its new "Hyundai Assurance" program, where a buyer can simply return a vehicle within the first 12 months due to loss of income, no questions asked.

What that actually means is Hyundai assurance program is offering to cover up to $7.5K of the debt on a
new car in case of job loss, disability, personal bankruptcy if self-employed, accidental death and in case
of the loss of driver’s license due to medical impairment.

Regardless of whether Detroit gets a bailout of 14 billion or over a hundred billion, they will need buyers who are unafraid to make a purchase for fear of job loss due to the economy (or any other reason). Might this be a good step for the Big Three to take as well?

1. That depends...is the program doing well for Hyundai?
I haven't heard one way or the other.

2. The program was just announced a day or so ago
It will probably be well into Spring or Summer before any real results can be seen.
