One of my best friends ever passed on yesterday.
Her name was Asha.

Asha was a kind and gentle soul who strove to teach me that no matter what my internal dialogue, The Whipping Boy, was telling me, that whatever I did, whatever I thought, whatever I worked at, whoever I was, no matter what others might say, was just fine and good and correct.

Now I am left with her lessons, lessons I suspect she learned from being close to and absorbing the teachings of Osho.

I think I will spend the rest of the time I have left remembering those lessons and acting upon them.

No, it's unlikely this matters to many here. It's unlikely you knew her. She was not well-known, except in a small retinue of people devoted to the Amiga computer of long ago. But we lost a good one yesterday, as cancer often takes the wrong people. But if the sun seems just that little bit...dimmer, today, just that merest smidge, now you know why. Asha was a great source of light in this world.

8. "The Whipping Boy"
If she gave it a name, then bless her heart, she just gave me a name for it too. Thank you so much for sharing your loss, and I hope it helps somebody else too.

Even the Bible has a good lesson or two, 'the rain falls on the good and the bad". That is true of cancer too. Sorry for your loss.

12. Doesn't it seem that the whole world should stop for a moment and pay
its respects to your lost loved one? Well, the DU "world" will, and we are so sorry for the loss of your dear friend who has "moved on" to the next world.
The gifts she gave you will continue to sustain you, and what she gave to you, you will pass along to others. In that sense, I believe, no one ever really "dies"...
Sending condolences to you, and hopes for a peaceful transition for Asha as she "learns the ropes" of her new dimension of existence -
nicky

It is true that the world is "less" when a good person leaves us. You wrote a lovely eulogy and put some sweetness back into the universe though.
Peace to you.

31. She was a kind soul.
I only knew her through her postings on the Team Amiga listserv, and she was indeed a lovely, kind, and loving person. A great loss, but also a great gift that she gave to those she touched. Buddha nature shared and lived.

33. After posting I was thinking of "good souls"
Edited on Mon Jan-05-09 03:44 AM by ConsAreLiars
and Asha's Buddhist beliefs. Atheist here, but if any "soul" could get reincarnated, she like the Gautama guy, would choose to come back to do more good over the Nirvana door. Lucy the enlightened pitbull has recently been traumatized by SO's new neighbor who has screaming fits and has Parrots which seem to have learned all they know from her example.

For a few months she was freaked and wary. She eventually decided that although they (all of them) seemed insane and obnoxious, they were no threat and adapted. I bet she (Lucy) and Miggy would become best bestest friends. Similar beings. And Asha would find kindred spirits in them. That Buddha nature thing that a few can see and far fewer realize.

(edit to add a bit)

Asha would be so proud that you carry within you the love you had for her and wanting to share it with us.

We were Amiga people before we eventually went over to Macs. We still have about 8 of them, although we don't have them hooked up we plan on using them sometime in the future. Live Board, Video Toaster, Music Mouse, Bars and Pipes were/are great programs.

Thank you for sharing your memories of Asha with us:hug:
