The media has turned the Congress/WH situation into a WWE-like spectacle

The government has been made strictly entertainment thanks to the Faux way of thinking, cable news has acquired. A bulk of the "news" shows these days are "us against them" types. So, yeah, they're eating this up.

For one thing that's been journalism since it was invented; you play up the conflict because that makes a good story. Obviously it is frustrating in a democracy that the fourth estate has no interest in preventing conflict, but that's the way the world works.

6. It's a spectator sport for the Kewl Kidz

Oh sure, it's life and death (mostly death) for the rest of the country and the world, but when you're insulated in your annual six- and seven-figure income bubble, and the drinks are flowing and everything's a good time, well, a little constitutional crisis is just a diversion, like Wrestlemania. Even the coverage of Bob Woodruff's recovery seems more along the lines of "Gee whiz, Bob sure got messed up, cross him off the invite list to our next soiree" rather than, "My goodness, what must it be like for the thousands who come back from Iraq without all the resources Bob has?"

Note to the media: This isn't a throwdown, this is a meaningful discussion to see whether we keep the representative government that's worked so well for 225 years, or if we go the route of fascist Italy or Spain. And while corporatist stooges will no doubt make out all right, millions of people will be affected badly if the country goes down the latter course. One other thing, and make no mistake: If our elected representatives aren't able to bring things back to order, we the people might just do so, and it won't be all neat and pretty. Time is running out.

14. You have that right...

everytime a situation comes up they find a way to make the subject more tangle with all of their spins. If the situation has something to do with Bush they will make it look as though he is all powerful and that the dems are causing the problem. The whitehouse throws out something to get their read on it and then they give them their talking points.

They have a lot to do with a lot of the problems that the country has now, because of their shielding of this non-pres. I have never heard the term commmander and chief as much as I have in the past sic years. As soon as a dem gets into office they jump all over them, they are afraid to ask the hard questions to these crooks. It becomes a big story when someone asks a hard question as wolf bitcher did when questioning the cheney's when this should have been happening all along.

The media adds so much garbage to a story that it gets away from what the main point of the story really should be...

...its all about conflict, strategy and who's winning. Sadly our press can't wait to jettison substance at the fist opportunity. We'll learn relatively little about obstruction of justice and corruption investigations and hear a lot about executive privilege and court battles.
