Allow me to translate:
Coulter's people pitched her to NBC so she can flog her book.
NBC said, "Yawn, no thanks. She's yesterday's news. We've got better stuff scheduled right now."
Coulter's people asked when there might space on the schedule for her.
NBC said, "Well, we really don't see anything opening up any time soon." Standard brush-off, in other words, when you're not interested in the pitch and looking for a way to end the conversation.
Except in Coulter's world, it's an opportunity to invent a Phony Scandal.
Spin a simple "no" into a Sinister Liberal Act of Censorship, then run right to Drudge to fire up the Outrage Machine.
Drudge posts it, Useful Idiots spring into action to scatter the "story" around the blogosphere, and there you have it: Instant "Controversy," and all the free, media buzz (and possible book-sales) that goes with it.
Another wing-nut nontroversy that, if they catapult this latest little bit of propaganda vigorously enough, will forever linger in the archives of memory and the talking points of chronic conservatives everywhere.
And no amount of linking to Snopes to show it's been debunked will ever make it go away.
Mission Accomplished. :puke:
