Sorry Mr. Obama, My ticket to your inauguration is gone to someone else
Your deafening on Palestine is something to do with it.

Good luck, then, with your inauguration as President.

As you have been def on Gaza, I will be def on your inauguration.

59. No more delusional than "your vote counts"
And I don't agree that the op is delusional. It's a perfectly valid point/opinion, and
one that I can appreciate even though I don't share it.
And I don't find mental illness amusing.
And I am sure that you don't either.

5. there'll be a few hundred thousand to a million there anyhow, but I can see
how there's certainly going to be some decent sized protests directed at him for a couple reasons on the very day he's inaugurated. Glad he wants the job, lol.

I'm disgusted with the perverted bigot, Warren, being the fraud he is, giving the prayer on behalf of the nation - and, as he is speaking - I will say my own prayer to Christ for our country.

I'm hoping he'll do major things about ending warfare, giving health care, trying B*sh crimes, and helping Earth's environment.

11. I wrote him a nasty note after he sold out to the corporatists and showed that "change" was just a
meaningless slogan in his appointments of DLCers and re-creation of the Clinton administration. Warren's invocation and the lack of any meaningful new ideas about Israel/Gaza have shown me that my initial disgust with this "change" BS was not unwarranted.

To all who still think anything much is going to change now, have fun at the inauguration.

I hope to be proved wrong, but will not hold my breath.

41. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here.
Can you clear it up?

It looks like you're saying that you feel getting a form letter response was indicative that his admin. will be no different from any other, that his change mantra is bullshit because he didn't take the time to write individual answers to thousands of people.

I'm sure that can't be the case because nobody in her right mind would suggest that sitting down and writing thousands of personal responses would be a better way for him to spend his time right now than almost anything else the other important work he has to do right now. Although, there IS a point there. If he were to respond individually and personally to everyone who writes to him, that WOULD be major change. He'd be the first President to not get a single damned thing done in office beyond writing letters.

65. sure I can clear it up.
I did not ask for a personalized letter. Neither did these folks who are sick of the fucking silence. Nice try redirecting the issue.

Nice way of deflecting the issue. :eyes:

here is a clue....

http://www.kabobfest.com/2009/01/please-answer-these-questions-president.html

The vast majority -- vast majority -- of questions being submitted to Obama's Change.gov web site right now are by thinking people. They want to know what he's going to do about Israel's current slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.

"We are in the midst of a brutal attack by Israel to the Palestinian population of Gaza. The US vetoed once again an UN resolution asking for an immediate cease fire. Does Obama have any plans to bring justice to Palestians?"
Titina, Marquette, MI

"Do you foresee a time when American foreign policy will reflect the belief that a Palestinian life counts as much as an Israeli life?"
SV, San Francisco

"President-elect Obama,Are you going to remain silent on the unhumane war Israel is launching on the Palestinians and what will you do differently than George Bush?"
omakan, new york,NY

"With the current turmoil in Israel and Palestine how will President-elect Obama bring back dignity to the Palestinian people and stop the current holocaust ?Will the USA still back Israel indirectly in thier attempt to take over new territory ?"
Elaine, Punta Gorda.FLA

"Will you continue the current administration's do nothing approach with respect to the Israel - Palestine conflict or will you actually make an attempt to bring a real resolution?"
Nathan, St. Paul, MN

"Mr. Obama, will you give Israel the same blank check and "nod and a wink' to initiate whatever military action they please, or will you insist on contingencies to military aid, including an end to the shameful slaughter of Palestinian civilians?"
James, California

"President-elect Obama has said he understands Israel's need to protect itself in light of Hamas rocket fire into Israel. When will he say he understands the need of the Palestinians to react to the stranglehold Israel has on their existence?"
Mick, Richmond, KY

"When will you stand up and condemn Israel's attack on Gaza, point out that it is illegal to use US aid and weapons to conduct this violent massive attack and move to end the $3 billion/year in US aid to Israel that comes from tax dollars? Thank you."
Arla, San Francisco, CA

"As a Jew I wish to know why we consider the State of Israel an "ally" although are no treaties signed between the countries and as an ethnocracy where rights are granted on the basis of ethnic identity, Israel doesn't represent the values of the USA?"
Dovie, New York

"President-elect Obama The attacks by the State of Israel are an affront to our notion of human rights and fairness. If this were perpetrated by any other regime we would rightly condemn it. When will you condemn the actions of the State of Israel?"
Hedley

"Will you challenge the viewpoint on Israel in the US or be held hostage by AIPAC? Will you ensure aid to Israel is contingent on evacuation of settlements and a halt to aggressive human rights violations?"
HH, Washington, DC

"How can the United States stand by and see so much suffering caused to the Palestinians whose internationally guaranteed rights have been systematically violated without any international intervention for 60 years?"
Dovie, New York

"Will the Obama/Biden administration please add balance to our policy with Israel?"
mstfd, Columbus, Ohio

"President Elect Obama - Why are we spending $15 million dollars a day supporting Israel's military siege against the Palestinians which can only fan the flames of violence- will your administration redirect this money towards peace?"
njkids, monmouth county, NJ

"Dear President Obama, How might you propose to hold the Israel accountable for their awful record of human rights abuses? My personal sense is that Israeli abuse of non-Jewish residents in Middle East is our #1 problem. Thank you"
newbruce, Wilmington, DE

There are countless others. Please make your way over there, click on "Foreign Policy", and pummel him with your shoes questions.

Obama asked us to participate, and chiming in about this (and any other) issue is just that. So, yes, let's hold his feet to the fire.

But don't stop there - it's really important to contact your congressman and both senators, either by email or phone. They hear constantly from more organized and better funded groups so we must make an effort to be heard.

I have to say that for me, in this one case, it's appropriate. I assumed Obama was a DLC hack back in 2004 when the corporate media went on and on about how great his speech at the convention was. I remember turning to my friend who was watching the thing with me and saying, "these assholes like him, so he can't be on our side".

Then came the campaign season and the corporate media rushed to limit the field to Obama and Clinton, and my opinion was crystalized. I've never expected anything more than DLC-style, corporate policies and public triangulation from Obama, so I'm not all that disappointed now.

that DLC is in control of the party, yet some still do. It will certainly be interesting to see if any of the Bush administration's violations of civil liberties will be overturned.

I suppose there are some who hang onto the excuses of blackmail, cowardice, etc. because they can't accept the fact that DLC members/supporters go along with the neocons' pro-corporatist, pro-military industrial complex agenda.

I was responding to ima_sinnic's post about DLC and "change". The people I was referring to are DLC supporters who believe they can convince others that DLC is not in charge of the party and deniers who simply can't accept the fact that some Democrats enthusiastically enable republicans.

My reply wasn't about your letter.

I know it is hard to wait for the truth to will out. I am waiting with baited breath to see how the faith-based hypocrite Warren is handled. How big his hand is allowed to place over the policies on health care and civil rights for women and the GLBT community. I personally won't be tuning in for the first part of the Inauguration because of this. I don't even want to hear or see Warren in his big black cape come out and profess to give an invocation for the man I am hoping will stand for all of our citizens; including women, GLBT, and those who don't believe that we should be giving the mega churches a free hand to do whatever they wish and not pay taxes, and then give them access to millions of $$ from the faith-based pot!

Some of us take things to heart more then others and we, I believe, are the ones who really want to be proved wrong the most!

From Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, 1600:

LAUNCELOT: Nay, indeed, if you had your eyes, you might fail of
the knowing me: it is a wise father that knows his
own child. Well, old man, I will tell you news of
your son: give me your blessing: truth will come
to light; murder cannot be hid long; a man's son
may, but at the length truth will out.

56. If that's what you really feel then more power to you.
It's your voice to use, or not use, as you see best. It really doesn't matter if anyone here even agrees or not.

Here comes all the people with their swarmy remarks and asking for proof that you had a ticket.

All that these many replies display is what sort of people support Obama and the mindset they possess.

It's no different than during the primaries and how if anyone did not fall in lockstep and support their support for Obama out came the name calling and bashing , is this what the mindset of the Obama camp is really all about? Sounds very much like "you are either for us or against us" to me. And if it's not then tell me how it's not that same mentality?
