Prosecutor: Teen mother of dead baby to be charged as an adult

GRAHAM, Wash. -- Authorities combing through 60 tons of trash at a dump site Monday found the body of a baby boy who was allegedly killed and put in a garbage can in Port Angeles.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested Friday for investigation of first-degree murder. Her father, 41-year-old Ronald Last, was arrested for investigation of concealing the birth by disposing of the body. She was being held in juvenile detention for investigation of first- or second-degree murder. Her father was being held at the county jail.

In court on Monday, a judge set bail at $500,000 for the teenage mother and $10,000 for her father.

Prosecutor Deborah S. Kelly said a hearing on charges against her was scheduled Wednesday, and she will be charged as an adult.

Casey Anthony.....now this Mother is charged with killing her child.....there are hundreds more.

WHEN as a society set up safe shelters for parents who are at their wits end and cannot cope with the pressures of parenthood can drop off their children sign some papers work and walk away for NO QUESTIONS ASKED instead of murdering their babies and creating a criminal record for themselves.....WHEN. We have safe shelters for our Dogs and Cats.

I believe this kind of program would cost less then the cost of prosecution and the cost of jail time. The fix is a no brainer when do we put pressure on our State Houses to implement this....

I get so pissed when I read these kinds of stories. There needs to be an option.

1. It shouldn't require a trip to Nebraska to give up custody of a child.
