Egypt Blocks Pro-Gaza Protest, Israel Allows

(IsraelNN.com) Egypt prevented hundreds of people from protesting Israel's “Cast Lead” operation in Gaza on Monday, according to Reuters. The Muslim Brotherhood had organized a protest in the capital city of Cairo.

Police scattered the would-be demonstrators, arresting dozens. Several others were arrested when they attempted to regroup and hold the demonstration elsewhere in the city.

Police break up anti-Israel protest in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, India: Police in Indian-controlled Kashmir used tear gas and batons to disperse hundreds of angry protesters demonstrating Tuesday against Israel's strikes on Gaza, officials said.

At least 30 people were wounded and 50 more were detained during the protest in Srinagar, Indian Kashmir's main city, a police officer said on condition of anonymity in keeping with department policy.

Elchin Behbudov meets with believers detained during the protest action before the Israeli Embassy

Baku. Ramil Mammadli–APA. Chairman of Azerbaijan Anti-Torture Committee Elchin Behbudov visited the Interior Ministry’s administrative detention facility on Tuesday. Behbudov told APA he met with 22 believers detained during the protest action before the Israeli Embassy on January 2. He said 20 of them were Hajj pilgrims. Behbudov said the believers did not consider themselves guilty and demanded to release them. The human right defender said they were detained for 10-15 days according to the court resolution and needed in the court decision to be released. “Tomorrow the committee will appeal Chairman of Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev on this issue”.

Israel’s attacks on oppressed Palestinians is a slap on the face of the so-called defenders of world peace: UDF

Mumbai- Jan 6: The President of the Sarva Samaj United Democratic Front (UDF) Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has condemned the brutal attacks on innocent Palestinians by the Israeli air and ground force and expressed his deep sense of grief at the loss of hundreds of lives. He said that the killing of innocent Palestinians in Israeli attacks is a slap on the face of the so-called defenders of world peace when 500 plus people have already been killed and thousands are languishing injured in hospitals.

The UDF held a dharna today at Azad Maidan from 2:30 pm where hundreds of people from Mumbai city and suburbs gathered to lodge their protest against Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands in Gaza and indiscriminate killing of civilians. Colonel Sudhir Sawant, Amaresh Misra, Mufti Azizur Rahman, Maulana Khalid Ashraf, Maulana Mustaqim Ahsan Azmi, Mualana Mahmood Daryabadi, M. Burhanuddin Qasmi, Maulana Anis Ashrafi, Farid Shaikh, Haroon Muzawala, Farooq Mithaiwala, Yunus Manyar, Nasim Khan, Maulana Ejaz Kashmiri, Dr. Azimuddin, Farid Batatawala and Sunil Khobragade who each lead separate national and state level NGOs were among prominent personalities who attended and addressed the gathering.

Thai workers are safe in Israel : Israeli envoy

Some 30,000 Thai workers in Israel were safe so far from the military operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip where Palestinian casualties went beyond 500, Israeli Ambassador Yael Rubinstein said yesterday.

Some 800 Thai Muslims who demonstrated in front of the Israeli Embassy yesterday warned of "unexpected" incidents around the world unless Israel ceased Operation Cast Lead against Palestine.
