Anybody watch Texas v Ohio State last night? Hubby and I are both
pretty rabid college football fans. The tube is on all season long with games. But last night,
it seemed to both of us, that there were many more commercial breaks than during most games.

At one point, in the first quarter, three and a half minutes of football had been played, but the
game had been on for at least 25 minutes. Non-playing time was FILLED with commercials. Usually,
the announcer and color commentator will yak during the downtime about the players, statistics,
the season, etc., but there was none of that. If the cameras weren't focused on a play being executed,
we were being bombarded by commercials.

Anybody else notice it?

1. It felt like companies are frantic to sell us stuff.

2. As bad as it might be watching the game on TV...
It's worse to sit through those "media time-outs" when you're actually AT the game. Was not at the football game last night, but I did notice this at the college basketball game I attended last Friday.

3. We have football season tickets to UNC games. Drove us nuts this year
to have the commercial time outs stopping the progress of the game. It really affects momentum.

I'm pushing hubby to give up our season seats next year. They've gotten so expensive--$50/seat/game--
and on top of that you have to make a donation to the foundation in order to guarantee your seats.

I'd just as soon sit home and watch on TV and mute the commercials. We're talking $1100. for the season.

4. Heh. And to think that when I was a kid we were told that "pay TV" would eliminate commercials.
Well now we have "pay TV" (cable, satellite, fios, etc) and there are more commercials than ever.

5. I tried to watch it
But the game was dull and slow paced. Since it was pointless game I tuned it out and found something else to do. College needs to find some meaning to these BCS games

6. I gave up, too. Hubby stuck with it; apparently it went down to the wire.
