Any News Yet On Sore Loser Coleman's Lawsuit?
Edited on Tue Jan-06-09 02:05 PM by IWantAnyDem
He was begging for money from supporters via email last night.

Just wondering if he's filed yet. Six days left and all, you know.

1. press Con at 3PM central.
No word on what he'll do but I'm guessing it will not be the honorable and reasonable option of conceding.

2. If he plans to go to court, he'll drag it out until the last day to file
just to mess with Al...

I wish Al would go ahead and get himself to DC, and do interviews... To wait in MN sends the message that Coleman's in charge..

3. I think he'll concede at the presser...
but I could be wrong. It's just that he knows just how much a long court battle will cost him, both monetarily and reputation-wise. He may also have heard from some SCOMN justices who told him ex parte that they were going to toss his cases without hearing them.

The SCOTUS won't touch this either way, since it is a pure state issue.

We'll see in about an hour and a half.

5. He'll Drag it Out All the Way to the Supreme Court
and given the track record of the Supreme Court, they might just give it to him. :grr:

7. I think you're wrong, and I think that
the SCOTUS won't hear the case if it comes to them.

The MN process was just too transparent and public. It went according to the laws of MN. The result is now known. The SCOMN is unlikely to entertain any of the proposed cases and the SCOTUS won't be interested.

It's over. Coleman's an a--hole, but not a total moron. He'll fold.

4. If he does concede, what are the odds
he'll make a gracious concession speech, a la McCain, or will he use this opportunity to take his last digs at Franken and the process? Hmmmm.....

6. I seriously doubt he'll concede
I suspect a poster above has it right and Norm (Sore Loser) Coleman will drag things out as long as humanly possible by filing at the last minute next Monday morning.

11. Well, as it turns out, you are both right
He's suing to overturn the whole thing, claiming some votes weren't counted, some were counted twice, and the canvassing board was incorrect on voter intent on some of them. This could take several more weeks.

My question is: who is funding this? What big money is behind Coleman to persue this? I don't think he has a lot of personal wealth so he has to be getting the money from somewhere.

What a wanker. How many do-overs does he get, anyway?

9. Maybe Coleman is going to pull a "Delay"
In 2006, Delay ran for and won the GOP primary for the Texas 22nd seat. He used this opportunity to raise a great deal of money that he is now using or has used for his legal defense fund.

I would not be surprised to see Coleman announce a lawsuit and ask for more money to fund it but then decide on Monday not to file such a lawsuit. Remember that Coleman and his wife each have their own criminal defense attorneys defending them in the FBI probe of the $75,000 illegally paid to Coleman's wife.
