Hula Hoop Lady sues a Norfolk pig for his assault on her

Lawyers for Pamela Brown, also known as the Hula Hoop Lady of Granby Street, plan to file a lawsuit in Circuit Court today against an officer who shocked her repeatedly with a stun gun last year.

The lawsuit, provided to The Virginian-Pilot by one of the lawyers, Howard Copeland, says Officer Nicholas Parks violated Brown's civil rights and used excessive force during the incident in October. It asks for $5 million in damages.

Brown, 49, was charged with making excessive noise and assaulting Parks after he responded to a noise complaint on the median of Granby Street near Wards Corner, where she hula hoops. Brown suffered a brain injury in 1977 when she was hit by a truck, and she has seizures and short-term memory loss.

I never heard of the Hula Hoop Lady lady before and after reading her story and watching the video I'm FUCKING FUMING!

On Edit: Good cops don't get sued for millions of dollars for use of excessive force. There are cops that see the badge as an honor - and others that see it as a license.

Personally I like to think that some cops are decent people who will do the right thing, but in reality I'm not sure.

To those DUers who are in law enforcement, and to those with family members in that line of work, have you ever seen another officer do something that you knew was wrong?

Did you report it?

Did you try to stop it before it escalated?

If you did then you have proven that some police officers are decent and do the right thing when needed!

If you didn't do anything, why not???
